New York would be crazy to do this imo. Not only is Puljujarvi a total wild card, but supposedly they just got done running Andersson out of North America and now they’re giving up a pick that will likely fall between 15-19 and another former top prospect? I know they get Benson too, but to me, it seems like too big a risk for too high a chance of failure. Maybe I’m being unfair to the Rangers, but I really wouldn’t trust them with JP’s development.

Not trying to flame the trade itself or anything, I just think the rumor is preposterous. I also think the Oilers asking price is way too high, but they’ve gotta do what they’ve gotta do

I don't blame Holland for asking for a high price, that's his job. But how do you figure that pick is in the 15-19 range? Right now its #23.

"Sneaking around?" I've been pretty open on this site about following the Oilers... and this trade idea came from a Rangers fan site.

So tears of joy at you.

I didn’t know Carolina was that low in the draft order, it’s been awhile since I’ve looked at the standings lol

By points percentage they'll draft 23 today. They aren't that high in the standings but they have games in hand. In any case, the article cited thinks the Devils could out-bid the Rangers using Vancouver's pick which is currently at #16 by points percentage, so your original point isn't totally invalid. Obviously NJD wouldn't be sending an Andersson level prospect though.

Rangers say no.

Also you can forget about acquiring Puljujarvi if you won't play him in the top 6 for 15 mins a night. That's literally the reason he left the Oilers.

I don't believe that's true. That report came from a lazy reporter who used Google translate (lol) to translate an interview Puljujarvi did in Finnish. The actual translation indicates that he thinks he has the ability to play in the top-6 in the NHL, not that he deserves a spot.

except no....

Here's the confirmation from a Finnish Publication:

https://svenska.yle.fi/artikel/2019/08/20/det-handlar-inte-om-nagot-blufforsok-kontraktslose-jesse-puljujarvis-agent

"I want a team where I get a place in one of the first two chains and where I get to play for 15 minutes per game. Then I could show what I'm going for. That is my main goal, says Puljujärvi to the TV program Lääri, which can be viewed on Youtube ."

So again....are you going to play him in the top 6 for 15 mins a night? Or easier said...are you going to give him Pavel Buchnevich's role?

looks like we can forget about Kakko and Kravtsov in the top 6 then as long JP's here hahah....

Would be interesting to simply commit to an offensive winger whose total offense is a whole 7 points in 1700+ NHL mins that don't have contributions from McDavid/Drai/Nuge.

I mean here are his NHL goals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpPl58KQt0M&t=1s You want to count how many of them where he did more than walk into a juicy pass or rebound between the circles? It's not much at all...

Not a lot of things like zone entries, or actually breaking down defenders. Just letting his teammates do all the hard work to retrieve the puck or get it into the zone and putting it on a platter for him.

Same in Liiga: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oylXAWd3OK0&t=1s
