Very little of this AGM is good for Edmonton.

Patrick might not even have a career, and you're giving up (mathematically) a bonafide third line winger and two quality picks for him and a late second round pick. This is the kind of trade that set Edmonton back (see Griffin Reinhart, 2015) instead of propelling them forward. If Puljujarvi is worth somewhere in the realm of a 2nd rounder plus, you're bleeding value on Edmonton's picks here.

If Boyd is projected to be a 4th line center for his career, you could probably have him for Chiasson and a mid to late pick straight up. No need to give Benning away for free. Recoup some actual value with him.

All of your other signings sans Athanasiou, Bear, and Khudobin are bad. Martha won't play hockey ever again due to his eye injury and Day/Lowe only consume AHL roster spots that are otherwise accounted for already. Brind'Amour might be worth a contract, but I believe the organization has another year to wait on him. Cairns is not worth an ELC.

Benson is likely not ready for full-time NHL employment and I'd bet my last dollar that Neal doesn't return next season. Be it a CBO or conventional buyout, his deal is incredibly hard to justify when he won't see the kind of icetime he had last season.

the major issue is have with the comment is that boyd hasn't been given a fair opportunity to figure out what he is exactly... Washington is extremely deep down the middle with Backstrom kuzy eller. Boyd has only played 85 Nhl games he has 31 points. he averages 10 minutes a game....

Benning is a defenseman that plays bottom pairing minute from what I can see. 13:14 toi average (3rd pairing minutes) his tio has steadily decreased year to year. I don't hink trading him for boyd would be giving him away. I don't think benning is a game changer/ anything more than a bottom pairing dman. hes right handed so I guess that's a plus and maybe oilers need him? im not sure of their defensive situation but if boyd can score 30-35 points only playing 10 minutes a game that's pretty good. Oiler could use more bottom 6 scoring... imo they could get Boyd for a 4th? Benning value is what a 3rd? not that much difference

Ya no thank you. I would not give Puljujarvi, a 3rd round pick and a 1st round pick for Patrick even if we are taking a second back. We get robbed especially of how good that first round is this year.

Perhaps a player swap, exchange of 2021 third-round picks, and some conditional clauses to protect Edmonton makes sense. Since Holland would be taking the bigger risk, the terms should favour him. For instance:

If Patrick plays fewer than 30 NHL games during the 20/21 season, Edmonton gets its 2021 third round pick back, and Philadelphia's 2021 second round pick and 2022 third round pick (instead of the 2021 third round pick). If he plays at least 60 games and scores at least 25 points the Oilers return Philadelphia's 2021 third round pick.

Under these terms, the Oilers are guaranteed no less than Philadelphia's 2021 second round and 2022 third round picks in exchange for Puljujarvi, should Patrick be unable to recover from his health issues. On the other hand, Philadelphia could get Puljujarvi and Edmonton's 2021 third round pick in exchange for a healthy Patrick.
