    You know Cirelli isn't a 1c right?
Also, I doubt Montreal considers that trade

Montreal jumps on that trade, Winnipeg has something shiny if that’s all it takes to get johansen

Yeah because Montreal wouldn't take a top 6 centre for a good player who could walk next season and a stalling prospect.

Cirelli doesn't have to be a #1C immediately he can split the load with Duchene.

Mtl has speed and quickness up the middle in abundance, could they not use one with size or is it the caphit?

@Sebybbq @MaxDomi13 would you do this trade?
Ryan Johansen hasn't even cracked more than 15 goals the past few seasons
and is on pace for 43 points. And guess what. He is getting paid 8mil

Let's say all of this works. I'd try to reduce the price tag on Cirelli a bit, don't sign Clifford, and trade Watson. Use that savings to resign Smith. Then roll

    Forsberg - Duchene - Arvidsson
    Tatar - Cirelli - Tolvanen
    Grimaldi - Bonino - Smith
    Jarnkrok - Soderberg - Sissons

That would be four lines that have defense + offense, play both ends of the ice, and each line would be capable of playing 15+ minutes on any given night. Solid forwards on all 4 lines. Although, the 3rd pair on defense is still a little suspect. I don't find this post all too realistic. But giving this to work with, these would be the lines I would try to put together.

Johansen a center gms go to the draft for, don’t usually become available by trade or free agency. He hasnt shown out yet and been paid a lot on potential, but there would be a few gms salivating to get him in there top 6 and hope for a oreilly type turnaround st.louis got, and possibly a cup lift.

Not a Habs fan, but they already have three top-6 centers and one other coming. If anything, they could trade one of Domi or Kotkaniemi. They have three top-6 wingers and they need another one. Domi played this season with Weal, which isn't great. I think that they only have two prospects on the wing. I'm pretty sure they'd prefer to keep Tatar than trade him for a not needed player. And then there is Juulsen, a prospect on a position (RHD) where their NHL players are above 30. If anything, both teams don't match well for a trade.

I agree with this, but I'm passing on Soderberg. I think Trenin could fill that spot full time, and that money can help resign Smith and/or improve 3rd D pair.

Yup, I would easily be down for that. Better use of cap space. I think Trenin has earned a roster spot for next season.

Not a chance that Bergevin acquire Johanssen. Not the type of players Montreal are looking for. Its also been three straight year of declines for him. I keep Tatar and try to extend him on a 5 years max contract. He seem to really love it in Montreal so why not.

Unless you're retaining on that Johansen contract, that trade doesn't make sense for Montreal.
