Initial Creation Date: May 19, 2020

Description
LW- Untouchables
C- Overpayment needed
RW- traded for fair value
LD- not sure on yet (filler players and guys who have shown potential to play at the next level but don’t have much value to be traded)
RD- needs to be gone

Goalies- honestly I think the goaltending is a mess. The team is high on all 5 goalies and with all of them being fairly young I’d bet they all get kept. Korpisalo-26, Merzlinkis-26, Tarasov-21, Vehvilainen-23 and Kevleniks-23

Ridiculous

Why would we trade him for something we have no need for? The biggest hole in the blue jackets line up is a 2nd line center. Maybe at the dread line we take what we can get. No need to comments if it’s not constructive, at that point you’re just trolling.

I agree I don’t think he’s gets that on his own, but that’s what we need.

Savard has very little left in the tank and is an ok serviceable Dman - He's not the target if I have a 2 C available for trade , he's not even in the conversation.

What do you mean by little left in the tank? You think he’s like 34?

Dude, he’s only 29 and is one of the better defensive defenseman in the league. He is a good 2nd pair RHD and can fill in on 1st pair if needed. He honestly would be a good partner for a supper offensive LHD.

Andy Green got a 2nd and decent prospect at the deadline, Savard could get that or more as a rental at the deadline. He’s younger and better then Green.

As I said he would have to be part of a package to get a 2nd line center. Not the only thing.

Yet pending UFA Tyson Barrie for 3 years of Kadri deal just happened...so not that Ridiculous considering Savard is very good defensively for a Dman

Barrie and Savard are 2 totally different players - anyone who thought Barrie was aquired for his defensive prowess needs a smack, he was aquired as a Top 4 Defense man which he was /is and will be in the future. You are correct Savard is superior on the D side of the puck - he's also a black hole when it comes to offense, he is not a possession player he's a dump it out player

so what is your point here....both are Top 4 2nd Pairing Dmen...they play different styles, but the barometer remains the same...2nd pairing Top 4 Dmen.
Savard (29 now) is a pending UFA next offseason (30 when he signs his next deal), Barrie is a pending UFA this season, 29 years old when he signs his next deal.

Columbus asking or wanting a 2C is within the value that the market has shown recently. Not sure whats ridiculous about that

Offense has always out valued Defense if it were the other way around then we'd see 7-8 million dollar defence first Defenceman , when we all know they top out at the 4/5 million dollar mark

Savard- 48.3 corsi%, 431 oiGF, 391 oiGA, 55.8% Dzone starts
Barrie- 49.7 corsi%, 468 oiGF, 508 oiGA, 57.0% Ozone starts

Savard also has 4 seasons 60+ oiGF with 2 of those being 70+
Barrie has 5 seasons 60+ and 1 of those 70+

Savards oiGA has been twice above 60 compared to Barries 6 times about 60, 2 of those in the 70s and one of those in the 80s.

All in all, Barrie is better then Savard offensively, but Savard is much better defensively. Savard is underrated offensively, he’s better then just a dump and change player. That’s more of the coaching style of torts then anything.

What would youre thoughts on Turris as a target? Hes not a fit in Nashville and when he got to play elsewhere internationally he looked like a different player. 4 years at 6m left...not the worst in this market but if they retained a bit, does that move the needle

You guys won't like this and I'm not trying to pick at you - but the closet comparable player I could find that was recently traded was drum roll please - Erik Gudbranson - now Savards #s are better but barely take a look and see what Gudbranson was traded for

no thats what you want to believe,
Gudbranson was one of the worst analytic impact Dmen when he was traded and signed....Hes Cody Ceci level bad.

Dude if you are goign to try to throw comps up at least play in the same sandbox

Gudbranson - 47.8 CF%, 275 oigf, 369 oiga , 54.5% Done starts

Same sandbox bud - Savard has the edge on GF but that's about it

Saved is actually 10x better offensively then Gunbranson. Savards oiGD is +40, Gunbranson is -94.... at least have us try to compare a guy who’s a + in oiGD. Not a guy who’s 150 worse.

Gunbranson was traded for a depth player and a 7th in October of 2019

In February of 2019 he was traded for a top 6 forward

In May of 2016 he was traded with a 5th for a 3rd line wing, a 2nd and a 4.

So as Savard is better then Gunbranson he could get a top 6 forward in return.

Declined. Columbus has no interest in kerfoot We already have Jenner and Wennberg as a 3rd line center.

Y'all realize the Barrie wasn't traded straight up for Kadri, right? Toronto also got a 40pt center to replace Kadri. I like Savard and think he's a great shut down dman but he isn't bringing back a top6 forward without a pretty big add, like say Foudy or Jenner.

Exactly what I was saying in my very first comment... and it’s not as big as Foudy. That would get us a center like Cirelli and Johnson. Savard and Anderson would get us a decent 2nd line center.

Kerfoot and a 6th for Rosen and a 3rd. Lets not pretend like Kerfoot was worth much more than a 3rd round pick. Those side pieces thrown in balance out pretty well.

I like Turris as a target, but not for Savard. Been trying to figure out ways to make it work for both sides, tho (the Preds are my #2 team, so I would feel bad about attempting to shortchange them wink ).
