    I'm not a Hawks fan but I'm really excited to see how Mitchell does in the NHL

    Add Alex Nylander and put do a small retention on Murphy since we'll just buyout Shaw.

    Offer:

    K Kapanen+ A Kerfoot for A Shaw + A Nylander + C Murphy (1m retained) + 2nd next year

    it is off. Shaw isn't a buyout candidate, he just had a down year. He's almost exactly what TOR needs. Adding nylander is beyond ridiculous here.

    What about the original offer but you cut Cagg and the pick and add Nylander

    cutting cag would up the 3rd to a 2nd maybe.

    Murphy >= Kapanen
    Kerfoot > Shaw, but the picks balance the difference. Plus toronto saves almost 1M in cap

    Shaw is pretty much done I'm betting so Hawks put him on LITR.

    Murphy, Nylander for Kap, Johnsson ($1M retained) to balance out the cap hit.

    Forward lines are a mess. Strome and Cat are not 1st line material and Strome Cat and Kane are a terrible combo and defensive nightmare for the Hawks...they were split up for good reason.

    Here's the stats on that line;
    1.59 goals for per game
    2.76 goals against per game

    Kap would be a perfect fit with Strome and Cat and that line would look good on the 2nd or 3rd line.

    I agree on trading Saad at the TDL if the Hawks are out, but if not obviously the Kubalik - Toews - Saad line was the best last season.

    No way is Carlsson ready for 2nd line duties...he's a 3rd line/7th man as of now, not sure he becomes much more. Beaudin may become that 2nd line guy but he'll need another year or two to develop before he's ready for 2nd line minutes. I'd keep de haan and either trade or buyout maatta. If we trade murphy, Seabs better be renewed and able to play 3rd line minutes or we are SOL defensively.
