For 1 team

i did this from a chicago perspective, the chicago fan actually proposed this and i liked it.

Shaw is pretty much done I'm betting so Hawks put him on LITR.

Murphy, Nylander for Kap, Johnsson ($1M retained) to balance out the cap hit.

i know the retention in this was going the other way, but IK tor wont do that. They could pay a pick to get retention from CHI

i edited in the quote.

CHI really does need a forward like Kapanen on their team, and Alex Nylander isn't doing much to prove a case for his value.

Toronto is taking on $4.7m of cap, Hawks are taking on $6.6m....no way does Chicago retain and if anything, Leafs would be retaining. Murphy is easily worth $3.8M, can't say the same about Johnsson who was on pace for 15 goals and is coming off a season ending knee injury needing surgery...kind of risky at $3.4M not to mention 15 goals isn't worth that cap hit.

The trade MIGHT work if Leafs retain a bit on Johnsson given the risk. That said, not sure Hawks move Murphy until they know Mitchell is a lock to play on the 1st or 2nd line and have seen Seabs skate after 3 injuries since january 1st.

I'd probably do this, but I was told by a couple of Hawks fans a while back that there isn't much interest in either Kerfoot or Johnsson. Of course no couple of people speak for a whole fanbase, though.

What if Seabrook is CBO? Then there's not really any concern for the cap. Leafs retaining won't ever happen with Dubas in office. He would pay a premium to get CHI to retain, probably as high as a 2nd.

Nice try, it was kappanen for murphy. No one wants Johnsson, or bracco, or Dermott. You throw these guys in as “sweeteners” and no one wants these players! You want them gone cause TOR needs cap space, badly.

i'm not even a leafs fan. it seems as if chicago could do with a third line LW though, which Johnsson is. I don't view him as a sweetener

The main issue with trading Murphy is it forces Chicago's top 4 to include both Boqvist and Mitchell next year. Yes Mitchell is coming off some solid NCAA years but there is no Guarantee he will translate as smoothly as Makar and Hughes did. I would be much more cautious as the Chicago GM and run him on the 3rd pair for a year first.

We aren't retaining a penny, Leafs win this trade alone on the cap hits so Chicago won't retain. If Leafs can't retain, then throw in Bracco so we have a good AHL RW

It isn't an unreasonable trade suggestions by any means but, I doubt that Chicago would retain any salary in a trade like this unless they were unloading a really bad contract in the process.
