Created by: habs2323
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 20, 2020

Description
Keep the first line intact.
2nd line try to balance it out and bring offense.
Not a bad 3rd line with some offense (Domi) and defensive presence (Bryon+Lek)
4th line, I will bring the youth in instead of a Weise or Hudon. Have Weal in there for faceoffs and experience.

Weren't they running the Drouin-Domi-Suzuki line with tons of success?

Pens SHOULD handle this team with ease. In a normal playoff series they would. But with this huge break who knows what’s gonna happen. The 24 team playoff is a money grab for the NHL. A team like MTL has no right to be in the playoffs.

Mete will have had 5 months to heal. I think he’ll be able to play. Also there are multiple people that would be better than Folin.

They have never played together. And Suzuki hasn’t played the wing since mid-January. When the season stopped Byron & Domi were playing well together though.

100% this a huge cash grab, that imo would cheapen the accomplishment of the winner. no matter who that winner might be. they'll always have that asterisks next to their title for not having been able to win the "traditional" way.
For if MTL deserve to be in the playoffs, it depends imo... I would much rather have a lottery pick than play a few half-baked playoff matches. BUT if the NHL removes MTLs draft lottery pick, then hell yes they "deserve" to be in this 24 team playoff race...

It's not to hard to figure out that the 23rd and 24th team in the playoffs are Montreal and Chicago. The league wants thier viewership and ad revenues to make sure they make as much money as possible. Montreal and Chicago are also major contributors to the revenue sharing program that props a couple teams up so they are just in for the money.

I think if MTL wins the play in they SHOULD lose their lottery pick, if they lose the play in they should keep it. If pens lose the series their 2020 conditional first in the Zucker trade SHOULD be moved to 2021 as they didn’t “qualify” for the playoffs.

Exactly. Two of the biggest markets in the NHL. The league needs that TV revenue stream

Penguins shouldn't even be in a playoff like this.
It should be the CBJ and NYI playing for the final spot and that's it in the east.

It doesn't matter though. Odds of them playing are so slim.
It takes one team to get infected. And the whole thing is done. It's not worth the cost risk and that's what everyone is really saying behind closed doors.
Because they can't prevent it from happening. No matter how hard they try.

Me thinks that Pens win easy. But maybe, just MAYBE, Price gets hot and Julien rides his vets until they die... and Habs still lose!
And I'm a Habs fan...

You make valid points, but in case you haven’t been following the news, they’re gonna run with the NHL season. Whether you Believe they should or not is your opinion, but the fact is, they’re most likely going to play hockey

would you expect them to say anything less?
What I do know, is it will cost millions to set this up. And 1 team gets sick. And then they are in trouble.
Here is what I think actually happens. The NHL sits back and watches. Because the NBA is going to try to resume play first. And if it's a disaster....the NHL isn't even going to think about going forward.
That's my honest opinion. Because right now the NBA wants to resume in FL, where they have political support to do so. But bringing in large groups of people into an area and not having adequate testing does not work well. But the NBA I think has marked June 1st as their day. So wait and see. Because that is exactly what the NHL is going to do. That's why they are looking at a start date in July. They want to let someone else pick up the bill for testing this out.

I think you’re right tbh. If the NBA goes poorly the NHL will not resume the season, however, if the NBA runs smooth then the NHL will resume in July as scheduled. They are letting the NBA test it out first

I think the NBA, the NHL and all others think exactly the same: they all are businesses who offer entertainement. So basically, they're trying to find a way to resume activity so they can cut on the already stratospheric losses.

That being said, they cannot resume until they have the green light from the Governement. And for now, they don't.

As soon as they come up with a detailed plan on how to resume their activities without putting everyone's health at risk, they'll submit it to Public Health for rubber stamping. And we'll have sports again.

IMO, ALL businesses want to get back to « normal » ASAP.
