If I'm Ottawa, I might add if it's Tierney for Miller, I'm not adding to get Montour. I don't really even love Tierney for Montour straight up, though I can see the merits of it as an idea.

you would rather miller over montour? that's rather crazy...

Miller fits better for what they need him for. He's a much stronger possession player, and has a better defensive impact than Montour. He's someone you can pair with Thomas Chabot.

I also like the contract Miller is on for Ottawa. He's useful for two years, but beyond that you're expecting JBD and Thomson to be ready full time.

With your eyes, and one got traded for a 1st + B prospect the other a 2nd rd pick, we know which one is better

I'll take facts and figures over the eye test every day. The eye test lies. You end up looking for inputs that confirm the belief you already have, rather than being able to accurately assess what a player is doing in a more objective sense.

Also looking at the trade value is a terrible measuring stick. John Marino cost Pittsburgh a 6th round pick and he was leaps and bounds ahead of either of these two.

Brett Kulak had terrific numbers last year, doesn’t mean he was better then others

Sure, but Colin Miller has been the better analytical player dating back to his time in Boston. At some point that stops being a fluke.

It's called cognitive bias. Easier to say it that way.
