Compliance Buyout and Saad

Created by: RWellington
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: May 21, 2020
Published: May 21, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the NHL & NHLPA allows each team to have 1 compliance buyout due to the likelihood of the cap not rising EDM would surely use theirs on Neal (3yrs @ $5.75). In order to show this I've moved Neal into the LTIR spot

If there is a CBO, you can add another 750k to the Oilers cap because Lucic will be bought out too.

Why would Chicago trade the best player and retain for a bottom 6 winger and a bust?

Why buyout Neal when you got a center at 12.5Mx6? Saves way more money. Would be too bad if a goalscorer like Neal has to go

Both Bettman and Daly and the players are dead set against any kind of CBO from what i read. They don't want them period. And the flat cap for this year is a joke. As the 2019/2020 season has nothing to do with the salary cap for the 2020/2021 season the revenue from the 2018/2019 NHL season is used. If anything the 2019/2020 season would effect the 2021/2022 NHL season not the current one.

Well i'm not entirely sure how it would work under a CBO however under a normal buyout EDM would add $687,500 in the upcoming season

Don't care about the $1.5, the $4 cap hit for a 7/8 defenseman is not worth it.

On a team rebuilding like LA, it may be worth it

Nope. There are other teams that are going to need to shed salaries and the Kings can have their pick on who fits their plans going forward, Russell doesn't.
