2 centers give the keys to Ullmark bring up some prospects

Description
I saw these trades.
Since there were not any comments I wanted to see what others thought of them.
IMO the Sabres would do both trades, not so sure the other teams.

There were other trades with Ottawa taking Ristolainen or Montour, maybe Buffalo needs to add a pick or a prospect, which would be fine.

STL makes this trade to free up $4,000,000 by trading Bozak and bring back a GK who performed well for them.
After getting Hutton they can move Allen and save another $4,000,000 with the intention to sign Pietrangelo.

Buffalo's 2nd line is significantly better.
Moving Johansson to the 3rd line and adding Bozak upgrades the 3rd line by even a greater degree.

I know many are not counting on Thompson but I have him on the 3rd, so even a 30 pt year would be satisfactory (BTW Buffalo only had 6 30 pt players last year and 2 of them were defensemen).

Maybe some of the salaries could be different. But remember Olofsson, Reinhart, Pilut, Kahun are all RFA and Buffalo could offer much less and still retain their rights.

Have fun with your comments. Please be constructive and remember both of the trades were recommended by and Ottawa or St. Louis fan. Finally, if you think Buffalo would need to add please provide reasonable suggestions.

I changed a 2021 3rd for a 2020 2nd.
Miller alone is worth a 2nd and 3rd adding Alzner bumps the 3rd to a second.

Why would St Louis have any interest in Hutton? They already have Binnington and Allen. They'll probably need to unload Allen and Bozak and Steen just to be able to afford to resign Alex Pietrangelo. They'll just keep Allen over Hutton.

I'm obviously a fan of the Miller trade, lol.

Do Sabres not see Cozens playing next year? I would think you leave one of those spots open for him.

You're contradicting yourself in the same comment.. Lol

Take a look at the trade, getting a retained Hutton for Bozak creates a lot of cap space for the Blues, provides them a cheap one year backup that they're familiar with and would allow them to move Allen for a decent return which the poster mentions in the description if you bothered to read it!

Cozens is playing in Buffalo next year either as the 3rd line center or 1st or 2nd line RW.

Thank you for asking.
I want to give more time for Cozens to develop. Ristolainen, Mittelstadt and Thompson were all brought up too quickly. Ristolainen and Thompson are showing signs of progress, the book is still open on Casey. Let me add, what I read and what I see he will be a top 6 if not top 3 player.
Futhermore, Bozak's and Johansson's contracts run out at the end of next year. If Cozens if ready one of them could be moved at the TDL or just not renewed then bring in Cozens.
Also, since their contracts run out next year that would open up for Dahlin's contract.
Lastly, IMO Buffalo could add a pick or a prospect to the Miller trade if needed as Tierney would be a big upgrade. I like Miller as well but he was the teams 4th RHD and did not get much playing time.

That's what I would assume. Tierney is a fit because he can be the 2C for a year and then comfortably slide down to 3C once Cozens moves up.

Very much agree with this, the last thing the Sabres should do is rush Cozens, as much as I think they need to make moves to improve the team and try to make the playoffs next season rushing Cozens doesn't help in the long run for the organization, they really need to get it right with him and his development.

Tierney would be a good addition, think they should sign him to a long term deal though if they acquired him. Could see the Sabres needing to add a pick to get Tierney, his RFA status adds value, not sure what kind of pick though.

I understand that rationale. I think you give him 9 games at least, then make your decision. I think can be an effective contributor, and not in the way Mittlestadt was (he was barely keeping his head above water at times as a rookie).

Miller is interesting, because he's probably the one of the three who is most on the outs based on usage, but analysts suggest he's also the best of the three. I don't know what his perceived value is relative to Tierney from a Buffalo perspective, but if Ottawa could get an extra kicker that would be pretty sweet.

If hes going to be a center, theyre not going to play him at wing

Sabres will take time to develop their players especially in light of Mittlestadt and Thompson, so unless they dont have any other option or Cozens blows them away preseason, I doubt we will see him much in Buffalo

As do some others, I think both Cozens (and Mittelstadt, and Thompson) would be better served by spending the lion's share of next year in the AHL. Given Cozens his 9 games to see what aspects of his game need working on, and then let him succeed down there.
