I don't agree with Kane/Burns/Malkin since they will retire before the Captaincy changes. I'd do Saad/DeBrincat, Meier/Hertl, Letang/Rust?

If the current captain disappeared then these are who would be named captain.

Kane is pretty much the same age as toews. Can't see either one playing much longer than the other. I'd say Dach is next in line to be captain so far

Yeah I think Hertl definitely has to be the front runner for the captaincy after Couture

Brady is going to be that guy. Chabot is an important leader in his own way, but Brady is the guy who drags the team into the fight even when they're out matched. He's already the Captain, it's just a matter of when they pull the trigger

I believe that Slavin or Svechnikov or Pesce are all better picks than Aho for captaincy.

You want your Captain to hate losing more than anything. Brady Tkachuk hates Losing more than anyone since Playoff Erik Karlsson. There was a game against Montreal this season where the Sens were just completely outmatched. It was like 3-0, and nobody besides Tkachuk and a couple other players. Brady was a madman in that game. Beat up Gallagher after a borderline slewfoot on Chabot, tried to fight Chairot, Chairot pussies out. Tries to fight Nick Cousins, Cousins pussies out. Finally ends up getting under the skin of Carey Price and fights half of the Habs on the ice at the same time. He refuses to quit even when his team just doesn't have it that night.

As for the Jackets, Boone Jenner would be first in line. He is a heart and soul kinda guy, leads by example, is very well respected by the entire organization from top to bottom, and probably the best leader in the locker room.
