Nah, even if the value is fine

Any trade involving Heiskanen + must include Matthews in the return Miro is that great he's Dahlin level IMO

This is completely unrealistic since there are far too many pieces moving to evaluate equality, let alone it completely ignores the cap

honestly why not just trade for Jason. Small simplistic trade that unites the brothers

What would you trade for him? I suggested a while back Johnsson for Robertson and it was rejected.

SDA or Adruzze or something. Basically a high prospect for a high prospect. Adruzze could be an NHL caliber 3c in 2 years and SDA is a playmaking maching. Sure he has issue scoring but he can generate points for wingers like crazy

Nope. When it comes to Heiskanen, it's Matthews or no go.

Robertson is our TOP3 prospect outside NHL. He's not going to be moved for cheap.

Just because he wears the jersey #4 doesn't make him Bobby Orr level.

a 24 of Bud is enough.

SDA, Abramov, and Abruzze are 3 of the leafs best prospects under our own Robertson, one could argue Kokkonen is there making those the best 5 who are not in the NHL, AHL, etc. So basically it would be a high center prospect for a high wing prospect. I would say Abruzze as he plays in the NCAA and those players usually have better ability to transfer to the NHL. But its completely up to Dallas at that point. Since the leafs have 3 good center prospects I could see them trying to move one for a good defensive or wing prospect.

So Heiskanen is now a generational talent? Doughty at the age of 23 was not worth Crosby. Super elite franchise centres are worth way more than anything else

That is just silly. Granted I don't see why Dallas would even contemplate moving him but he is not at Matthews level. Centres who are generational talents are worth more than anything else. They are super rare.

Obviously, but when it comes to how important player is for a team, Heiskanen is about just as important for Dallas as Matthews is for Toronto.

Much like Matthews is a franchise C, Heiskanen is franchise D-man.

From DAL point of view it's the only important thing.

We're not moving Heiskanen unless we get a major haul in return.

I agree but to think you are getting a super elite franchise centre is expecting way too much. Matthews is essentially untouchable. It would cost Heiskanen and at least 1st and I'd wager other pieces would need to come as well. It's the same for McDavid. Any trade for a super elite franchise centre is pretty much a bad idea, it would cost way more than it's worth. You can only get them via the draft.

Super elite franchise centre laugh what a term.

A plain old franchise center does Matthews justice just fine. There's handful of those in the league at a time, and Matthews belong the club just fine.

At the moment it looks like there's going to be 4 superior young D-men in the league in a matter of few years: Cale Makar, Quinn Hughes, Rasmus Dahlin and Miro Heiskanen.

Defensemen with their skillset and potential considering their age are very, very scarce.

These players are never going to be traded unless the haul they receive is absolutely insane.

Only one player from TOR fits the bill and that is Matthews.

I'm not saying it's a good idea or it should happen. But the only player from the Leafs that DAL might consider trading Heiskanen for is Matthews. That's the gist of my comment.

Sandin was the World Juniors MVP, he may develop into a franchise defenceman as well. But we agree, there is no trade here.b

I honestly would take heiskanen over Hughes and makar. Sure the latter might be better offensively, but I believe in his prime heiskanen will be elite at both ends of the ice.

Not in TOR. They can't make their d-men actually good in defending...

Those 4 have the potential to become the next Karlsson/Doughty/Hedman players alike. Absolute best in the league.

Imo Sandin's ceiling is somewhat close to that of Provorov or Werenski. Great d-men no doubt, but not at the absolute elite.

That is a myth and one that was born from Babs not understanding that the players he has are best served in a different system. Babs wanted this highly skilled team to play like the Islanders and Coyotes. It didn't work and since Keefe took over they have shown marked improvement.

Keefe wants the team to possess the puck and when you don't collapse to the net and clog up the middle. Under Bab's he wanted extreme pressure all the time and man to man defence which ended up leaving the slot open all the time. It was so frustrating.

Keefe's team is going to be scary good. A coach should use the strengths of his players not try to bend them into something they are not.

Leafs fans have an insane amount of trust for Keefe. All bad things are still Babcock's fault...

I'm not sold on this team being nearly as good as Leafs fans seem to consider until they actually manage to win a playoff series...last time was in 2013.
