Fixing that onion nylander trade roster

Created by: Jameshgfgn
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 22, 2020
Published: May 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Now this may be an unpopular opinion but I think Jamie Drysdale will go at around pick 7 to 8 just because of the great offensive talent at the top of this draft.

I also think the Hoffman can replace Nylander at slower cap hit but Nylander is more value because of his age.

I also think that all UFAs this summer will be getting quite a bit less than originally expected.

NJD pick could potentially be #1-5 so Lafreniere, Byfield, or Drysdale are possibilities. If dubas traded for that and NJD got the first overall pick Toronto fans would call him a genius as Laf with Matthews and Marner could be terrifying

Honestly, I would rather keep Nylander then pick 5, or 4, or maybe even 3. Too much risk involved.

Look up all your favorite Defenceman/Best Defensemen to play the game and see where they were drafted - very few were top 10 picks - drafting Dmen in the top 10 is and has always been risky

True but I am looking at it like this
      1 Detroit Lafreniere
      2 Ottawa Byfield
      3 ottawa stutzle
      4 LA Raymond
      5 Ducks Perfetti
6 Devils/ Toronto Holtz (already have 2 young centres) if Toronto Drysdale
      7 buffalo Rossi
      8 Montreal Drysdale/ Lundell

And that’s why I got Hoffman who can replace Nylanders production (for now)

Depends what the league approves, If they keep the current draft then yeah it's possible the NJ could get #1-5. If they go back to the 2012 draft then NJ can do no better then #2 overall as they could only move up 4 spots.

In general this trade would all be based on chance and would basically be a gamble for Dubas

Lets say he trades and during the Lottery NJ gets #1 or #2 Dubas goes and get Lafreniere or Byfield (Laf basically replaces Nylander) (Byfield makes kerfoot expendable in a year) and the leafs would be back to having 3 elite centers again (2018 Tavares, Matthews, Kadri) (2022 Tavares, Matthews, Byfield)

If the pick goes 3-5 Still good but (Drysdale perfect future RHD, Raymond-people call the swedish marner, and Yaroslav Askarov fixes goaltending issues for the future)

Now if the pick goes 6-10 leaf fans may start to get mad at Dubas for trading Nylander

Anything below they riot and ask for his head
