Fair trade. Question is, why would we want to trade Reinhart? Rakell would only be cheaper for 2 seasons and after that would cost as much as Reinhart. Jack and Sam have some of the best chemistry in hockey.

I wouldn’t do that. Rakell is on a cheap contract and Lundestrom has a high potential

Has Tim Murray possessed Bob Murray's body?
Is Rakell a RH, LW? Is so has he played RW?
Rakell is only 3 years older than Reinhart and his production is about the same with a very nice cap hit.
IMO Botterill would be crazy not to make this trade.

seeing trades that involve reinhart blow my mind...we're trying to keep eichel in buffalo not drive him away even more. removing the one guy that he has strong chemistry with and can rely on day in and day out doesn't make sense

Flip Rakell for more assets in a year, end up with a solid 3C, and a 2nd to go get Josh Anderson or equal. Take Alexander Holtz. If this is the best Reinhart we can get, with the best chemistry in the league with one of the best centers in the league, then this deal should be a steal for Buffalo

Reinhart has better production and is more consistent, to this point, the only advantage would be the cap hit. IMO, but for a struggling team, the more young assets the better, Anaheim has a ton of those Buffalo does not

Anaheim has the cap room to fit an extra 3 mill against it and Reinhart is better and younger than Rakell and has RFA status so he isnt walking in 2 years

As an Anaheim guy, I would make that trade. Locking up the #1 RW slot permanently would be worth it.

As an aside, Persson shouldn't get much more than League minimum and if Ryan Miller decides to finally retire, Anthony Stolarz is ready to come up from San Diego and be a perfectly acceptable backup to John Gibson.

I wasnt sure how their AHL goalies were doing, but Ive heard that Miller was contemplating retirement more now.

i think their chemistry is completely overstated, and together they do not generate much more than other top lines, which is very clear
