Yeah sorry it wasn't very clear - Leafs basically move down from the 2nd to 3rd round so that COL retains $1M for them, could even do 1.15M (50%), which may let the Leafs get a full 23 man roster if they get someone cheaper than Lewis in UFA

So the Laughton trade is a 3-way deal?

I like all of this apart from the Dermott trade. I'd sooner send Sandin down for one season than lose him for a smallish forward.

That would probably make for a better D core but it may require another move to clear cap. Maybe you could add to CHI and get them to retain a bit on Murphy?

I have trouble moving kapanen. I'd rather clear johnsson's space, grab a D for his money, and keep kap.

Don't sign Lewis for one. Robertson could make the team as well and I would bring back Guathier

I don't think Johnsson has the same value as Kap though. He was used in a more offensive role but has the same production, 2 years older, doesnt PK, and hes coming off of surgery. I don't think he would get you Murphy

no I totally agree. But you can use the ensuing cap space from a Johnsson deal to grab a guy like demelo in FA

I don't know if that's enough to make him fit unless you use a 21 man roster or increase retention in a trade. Dermott probably costs at least 2M, a 1.1M increase from Sandin. Subtract 400k in cap space from this AGM and you have to make up about 700k. Swapping Lewis with Robertson saves 150k, maybe COL retains an extra 150k, but after than I don't see where you could save much more. Maybe Mikheyev? Idk. It would be a tight fit up against the upper limit

I don't really see that Dermott can ask for that much. My guess is he'll sign cheap for one year to prove he deserves something around a 3x3. maybe 1x1 this year

I think he could. He has 150+ games of experience. If I was his agent I would be using Zadorov (his old contract at 2.15M), Benning, and Stecher as comparables. He doesn't have arb rights so maybe you get lucky and get him for 1x1 but I think other teams would be willing to pay more in an OS tbh

Unless you're moving the 2021 1st or Sandin for Laughton, that package isn't interesting enough for Philadelphia. Most likely a situation where the trade market doesn't reflect his value to Philadelphia, and they will just keep him.

Kings say no. They have a need for an extra center so Carter can be moved to the wing and hopefully not suck anymore. They don't need another 4/5 LHD defenseman with less than 5 seasons of experience. If they did, they would just re-sign Ben Hutton.
