I doubt ANA does this. Due to his contract, Rakell is easily worth a 1st and is worth more than Bailey. Mayfield and the 3rd don't make up for the difference between the two

I suggested something similar around Boychuk and Zaitsev. I think it makes sense for both teams. I'd even be okay with Ottawa taking a guy like Clutterbuck or Komarov for an increased return.

If you evaluate their records Bailey has been more productive in the last 4 years. They are the exact same player. Rakell is 1M cheaper, but Bailey is on the longer contract (and he is well worth his contract). given that the ducks aren't in any cap trouble, it would be wise for them to trade Rakell now because his contract is about all that makes him valuable. Mayfield is pretty much exactly what they need for Larsson and comes at a premium.
Really the difference in Mayfield / Larsson plus the 3rd should be adequate, but if it needs slightly more to move the deal, propose it. Bailey is definitely worth a first+

All else being equal, I would rather keep Boychuk - his contract is up 2 years sooner than Zaitsev. Would need OTT to take back a little more money to entice me. Not to mention, Zaitsev effectively blocks Bode Wilde from making the leap

His eye is healed - boychuk is not an NHL caliber defenseman and neither is Zaitsev.

If the Ducks trade Rakell it would be to get younger, they could get more for him if they move him, Bailey would be useless for the Ducks by the time they can compete again

He has a 7 team trade list. If he was LTIR -ed that would be great for the isles and we’d be happy to keep him lol

Kings would go for that, but not for the Toronto pick. That pick upgrades to a 2nd if the Leafs resign Clifford, which is very possible. It would either need to be the 2020 3rd from Columbus or the 2021 Kings 3rd.

I just don't think Rakell will get as Ducks fans think he is worth. He's a 50 point guy, same as Bailey. I get the point of getting younger though. (Meaning I don't think he is worth more in value, but what he gets might be different)
Bailey could make for a nice placeholder top line piece though. I think he is better than Rakell, just more $

Rakell was on pace for 52 on arguably the worst offensive team in the league put him on even a middle of the road team and he pushes 70 no problem

It isn’t close value wise between him and Bailey imo, Rakell would fetch much more hes younger and better and cheaper for two season where cap space is going to be more vital than ever

I love bailey but he isn’t as valuable as Rakell, I’ve watched Bailey since his OHL days for my home town spitfires. Not saying he doesn’t have value because he does, just not as much as Rakell
