Interesting. Most leafs fans who I’ve brought this up to liked it. Basically the same caliber player (Meg all is better defensively tho) with a cap break for Toronto. Basically, Engvall is currently better but Howden has more upside and is cheaper...

Yea the value is fine it's just we already have our 4 C's locked for next year and Engvall is great on the PK. Also only 23 like Howden.

Yeah I mean it's somewhere on the spectrum of fair -> advantage Leafs. It's certainly not advantage Rangers there. Also Engvall is 2 years older.

I am one of those people who believe Buying out Lundqvist or trading him (unless that is what he wants) would be bad for our organization. Yes i know this is a business and there are players who have surpassed him at this point in time, however it is also bad business to neglect a HOF player who has dedicated his life and career to the Rangers. IMO we should trade Georgiev. We would still have depth at the goalie position without him and a decent backup goalie shouldn't be too hard to come by (including a possible resign of Lundqvist at a much lower cap hit when the time comes).

I agree, but keep all three if Gorton can't get at least a 1st or a 2nd plus a good prospect for Georgiev. Would not be ideal having three goalies, but maybe there's an injury and spot opens up for Hank or another teams goalie gets hurt and causes them to trade fair market value for Georgiev.

Rangers have no reason to trade Howden. Especially since he moved to LW halfway through the season and started playing much better. I'm sure the Rangers still consider him a top prospect. Howden was a 1st round pick in 2016 and just turned 22 a month ago. He's 6'3 - 200 lbs and looks a lot better playing like a developing power forward than center.

Haha bringing up size are we? Engvall is 23 an was a 7th round pick in 2014. He is 6'4 and a monster in his own end. Great penalty killer and was on track for 25-30 pts getting 10 mins> a night. Was a ppg in the AHL to start the year. We have no intrest in moving him.

Touché! Seems like both players would be better suited to stay where they currently are.
