its crazy how fast the rangers were able to rebuild.... they make it past the cane they'll end up beating the Capitals also...unfortunately

I agree the rangers are a good team, but why do you think the capitals will lose to them?

capitals love to underachieve and with all the time off and how old most of our superstars are I doubt they are conditioned to win atm.

Thank god, yet we still have holes in forward prospects. I think we could do some serious damage, it's up to speed, discipline and Igor. People laughed when we blew loads on Bread n Trouba but they are exactly what we needed, especially come playoffs. It would have sucked to just say let's wait, tank, then rush into finding star fillers. This years UFA crop is putrid and next years crop is also not good for us. Great plan.

its partly coaching.... TR has a massive issue with mid game adjusting. his breakout system is terrible. capitals try to do the stretch pass and if tht doesn't work we are in our own end taking 27 penalties a game. its impossible to only blame him. leadership guys are lazy on most nights id say Wilson and Oshie are the only 2 guys that consistently play hard every night

I don’t watch the caps much but it seems like vrana turned into an elite offensive player once trotz left. How is reirden with the younger guys?

I mean Vrana was amazing his last year with trotz also he just wasn't given a fair shot.....

all recently got moved after not being used properly...you can also throw Jaskin name into list. DSP and Boyd also alll really solid players that we had that we trade for fair (bura) / low value bc they signed guys like Panik and Hags. im a fan of Hags but he had comparable players in our system.. Sieg imo is fantastic. hes not getting the love he should unfortunately

That’s my one problem with trotz. He’d rather player bad hockey players that are “predictable” than a young skilled player. It seems like he holds his teams back at times by giving replacement level players a lot of ice time.

TR is the exact same coach system/stubborn wise but with half the respect and intelligence. yeah I wanted trotz gone regardless of the cup. he would play Alzner over Schmidt. MIKE WEBER over Schmidt he made some roster mistakes that cost the the series vs the penguins.. I mean he also made some smart moves but Schmidt is now one of vegas best dman…...

I used to see articles/tweets on how it was criminal that schmidt used to get scratched in favor of vets. I know Analytics showed that he was one of their better defenseman.

He does the same thing with boychuk/Dobson. Boychuk is one of the worst defenseman in the NHL and he plays over Dobson (who leads the isles in almost every defensive category) . Every time a prospect his called up, they are placed on a line with 4th line grinders, and if they make one mistake or don’t produce, they’re sent back to the NHL.

I like trotz, great X’s and O’s coach, but man he makes some really questionable decisions

if you have time look at sieg stats.... hes not offensive like schimdt but its an identical situation... I want him on the top pairing next year I think hes a small set down from dummo

He’s better at shot suppression than kempny - not a bad idea to give him a look on the 1st pairing with Carlson.
