Beginning of a Dynasty

Created by: buchiegang
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: May 23, 2020
Published: May 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Very few weak spots with this team. And the parts that are weak (3rd pair and center development) can be rectified internally next year. Staal and Heed are replaced by Miller and Lundkvist next year and hopefully a year of development for Chytil/Borgstrom/Kakko will allow them to elevate up a slot (Chytil to 1C with Panarin and Borgstrom to 3C). And if that’s not the case, there are plenty of assets/cap to acquire a top flight center to play with Bread and KK. Let the dynasty begin!

I know dude but there not gonna move on from Staal until his contract expires and Heed is a pretty good possession player. Might minimize Staal’s deficiency...

I think the contract is fair. Him and Fast are very similar players...

looks pretty good
goaltending's pretty darn good
left side def is pretty thin, maybe trade DeAngelo for a similar value left shot d, Fox is a keeper, Trouba will bounce back played pretty overwhelmingly (he got NMC so cant do anything there)

keep Strome for sure.. his value is a bit low because of the Panarin factor, he'll probably take less anyway to stay because he's finally playing good hockey and doesn't want to destroy that

I’m interested to see how ADA-Trouba will work. ADA has a good amount of experience playing on the left and his puck moving may allow Trouba to really focus on a shutdown role. I think the biggest problem with the Skjei-Trouba pairing was Brady was unable to fulfill the puck moving responsibilities (he could really only skate it out of trouble) and that’s ADA’s specialty...

In regards to Strome, I think he’s the best option for next year for sure but I’m not keen on extending him longterm. Borgstrom, Chytil, Henriksson all have top 6 potential and I don’t want to block their path. As well as the fact that I think it’s far more likely that he regresses back to NYI/EDM Strome then that he keeps his production at this rate, especially over the course of a long term contract.

Not sure having Strome as your 1C is going to make for a dynasty. Centre depth is the most important thing in hockey and this certainly lacks compared to many teams.

yup, happy with what we got for him but no denying them hes a top pairing def, looks like he needs more time to adjust from the jets sys to the rangers

Strome is interesting... reminds me a bit of Guentzel with Crosby and Draisaitl with Mcdavid...different for sure but similar, bridge deal and go from there, low risk high return
