Everyone talks about how Ottawa got fleeced but Nashville gave up Girard, Kamenev, and a 2nd rounder that would be Filip Hallander for Turris

Ya that was even worse. I didn't put Turris back on the Sens because I think he still would've been dealt so the kids has better opportunities.

That deal was worse for Nashville than Ottawa. If Ottawa had just taken that deal for Turris, they would be stacked right now. They probably grab Cozens or Zegras over Byram, and their top 4 of the future would be Chabot, Girard, Brannstrom, and JBD.

Plus two top 5 picks this year.

The deal was definitely not worse for Nashville. Ottawa lost 4OA, third round and Bowers. That is a much worse hit than Girard/Kamenev/2nd round pick

Sure they lost a 4th overall but Abramov and Thomson could be great pieces. If Thomson becomes a top 4D it won’t be that big of a difference. Unless Byram becomes better than a Roman Josi or Morgan Rielly

Sens ended up with Johnathan Davidsson, Vitaly Abramov, and Lassi Thomson, and Nashville ended up with Kyle Turris, who is trending into buyout territory. Also Sam Girard was the best piece involved. I don't think Byram will be as good.

If you include the columbus trade then yeah that changes things, but if I'm ottawa I would trade Abramov/Thomson back for Byram in a heartbeat. IMO Byram is way higher in value than any of the other players in the trade excluding Duchene

Admitting the Duchene trade was bad for Ottawa. But at least the Sens were "going for it", after going to game 7 of the Conference Final the previous year . There are some Sens fans then criticize Sens management for trading Karlsson and Stone, from a non playoff team and two guys who had no desire to resign with Ottawa.
Lose one trade but won two trades...especially that EK trade. Overall the Sens did well for those three UFA players.

I still don’t think at the time Duchene was worth Turris + 2 1sts

You're right. That is the lunacy of overpaying for a upcoming UFA and thinking you can sign him. Wise move by Sens not signing Duchene. I'm sure the Sharks committed themselves to resigning Karlsson after giving so much getting him in the trade. But resigning EK at 11.5m X 8 IMO is gonna be poor Sharks now and in the future.

I've only watched 9 games but he was very solid. He can play with anyone in the lineup

You guys got Namestnikov and Nichushkin for nothing and both I think will get re-signed.
