Well...ye, we had the worst of luck this year. Mitts should have showed he could be a consistent scorer, either on the second or third line and not been sent down. Ollofson and Dahlin suffered injuries that hurt our growth. And we had 2 many defense and created a unsteady defense where we couldn't create partnership and culture on the ice. And maybe the worst of it all is that Hutton somehow just dropped off completely...like he was insane and then he just because horrible over night almost.
Skinner played bad, and well I don't think his skating style helps him in some situations, he was also kinda unlucky. Montour also should be improving and I didn't see alot of improvement this year. I thought he could become a Krug like player but he hasn't showed a great upside defensively or offensively.

Wow an optimistic post.
So many negative comments.
Mittelstadt is called a bust, yet over 82 games he has averaged 29 pts, near 2nd line forward pts in 2019, OMW he is all of 21 years old, let's give up on him.
Cozens, is still burning it up in the Juniors.
Kahun has demonstrated the he is ready to step into the 2nd line role.
Thompson unfortunately was hurt in this first NHL game, but was the Sabres best player in the Amerks 2019 playoffs, voted team leader of the prospect challenge and has 12 goals in 24 Amerk games.
Look at that defense, Miller at 27 is the oldest, just when defensemen start to produce career stats.
Yes, I am extremely optimistic, but this club the last two years has shown flashes of performing well.
I am anxious to see what next year brings.

EDIT: @BuFfaLOFaN
I think you made many good points.
If Hutton had played better or Ullmark had not been injured we win at least 4 more games.
Skinner did not play with any one who could keep up with him.
I do not necessarily agree that too many NHL caliper defensemen are a bad thing, just none of them get a chance to stand out.
BTW Montour had the best +/- among all skaters, and he is considered a defensive liability.
I think we a close, too many people have negative outlooks.
