Ottawa have absolutely no incentive of making this trade.

I don't think the Rangers accept with the retention. Without the retention it's close.

Strome = Isles pick.
Georgiev + Smith unretained = 2nd + = Duclair. Similar to Grubauer.

No incentive? They get a 24 year old goaltender who you can sign for cheap and instantly make the starter, a 26 year old C/W who is coming off back to back 18 goal seasons and can play 2nd or 3rd line minutes and at both ends of the ice, and a 3rd pair defenseman who's cap hit is higher than his salary. Teams like Ottawa value the money differential in guys like Smith. Not to mention he's a veteran presence in the last year of his deal so if you don't want him, they can flip him for a draft pick come next year's deadline.

That deal is in the same framework as Stepan-Raanta for DeAngelo-1st round pick. Stepan had 55 points the year before he was traded (Strome had 59 points this year at the stoppage)

They already have Niilson in net to fill that role until one of their many good prospect goalie are ready to take over in net. Strome haven’t shown any consistency true out is career and he will ask for big money. He have been mostly a third line center true out is career averaging decent number but nothing close to this year. Ottawa is in a rebuilt and have no interest in acquiring any of these players.

Stick a fork in Brass, the warriors body is broken down. Short on bonus money. Where are KAM and Kravtsov playing?

I have KAM starting in the minors since he is still a bit raw and then when he is ready he'll be up and take Jon Merrill's spot on the 3rd pair and have Merrill scratched. Kravtsov definitely is a question mark. First he needs to prove last year's chaos was an anomaly and that he can be an NHL player. Instead of trading with Ottawa then, I'd say look to do a trade with Calgary for Sam Bennett and a 1st. Gets you a young 3rd line center with upside (4th overall pick who hasn't lived up to his draft slot) and a draft pick most likely in the 15-25 range. Ottawa gets their starting goalie of the future and a middle 6 forward.

Nilsson is 30 and has never played more than 30 games in a season and hasn't posted great numbers in those starts. He's bounced around a lot as well. Is he a serviceable backup? Sure, I'll give you that but by no means is he a starter which Georgiev is looking like he has the ability to be.

Georgiev haven’t played more then 34 game in a season no one know if he can be a starter. Ottawa just have no need for him and will not trade for Strome or him. And clearly not a first round pick.
