Can this team make a playoff run

Created by: OutCold13
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: May 25, 2020
Published: May 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is probably a pretty ideal offseason for the Wild.
2 main problems with it is I doubt Zuccarello waives his nmc and some how the Lightning will find a way to match for Cirelli.
I do think the Blues would consider the Dubnyk trade just for a little more money to offer Pietrangelo.

If it did all work out as planned I think the Wild would be a very solid team.

The Blues would trade Allen because they need cap room which this doesn’t give them. Plus, Allen is probably better than Dub anyways.

The retained money on the Dubnyk trade gives them a bit more than 2 million in space. I agree allen is better than Dubnyk at this point hence the trade.
If the blues need more space they can then buyout the remainder of Dubnyk contract which is roughly 2.16 million for 1 season so it would be spread out over 2 years and open up just over 3 million in cap space.

He has Dub retained at 50% that's almost 2.2M savings. Dub struggled this year but was fairly solid the previous 5 years

Damn I thought Dub was making more money, sorry about that. I’d still rather we target picks for Allen instead though.

I agree picks would be better for you but because of the cap probably being stuck where it is at and so many teams being against it I'm not sure how many teams can absorb the whole of Allen's salary.

Yep, you might be on to something with the Dub trade. The Blues could theoretically trade for him with the wild retaining half and then flip him to another team at a reduced cap hit for picks.

I line this a lot! However, if you go this far, i think Staal needs to be moved too.

The only part about this that I like is the OS on Cirelli.

The Philly trade might be okay if Frost is a center, but as a LHS wing he really doesn't do anything for MN. I'm much rather have Dumba that Ghost as an offensive d-man.

Is Allen really any better than Dub for 1 season? I mean he rebounded this year, but the guy is a headcase and had a couple of pretty bad seasons prior. Dub hasn't been good either. I'm more in the let the kids try their hand in net and see if one runs with it next season.

I wanted to keep Staal for his last year and let Frost acclimate to the NHL around the trade deadline I would then ask Staal if he would be willing to waive his NTC, either way Frost would begin the following season at center.

Dubnyk is done, IMO. He didn't track the puck well at all this season and he looked slow in net tracking can be fixed but speed and agility can not. Allen is a head case but as we all saw in the playoffs he can also be unbeatable. I like the idea of playing kahkonen but we need a plan b and Stalock really isn't a good plan b.
