This doesn't help our cap problem, it hurts it. This takes 7.5 mil off for 6 mil but now we have to replace our 6 or 7 D. It also adds years to big contracts when we need to open up money for upcoming RFAs. If Van is gonna take a big dumb contract back in a trade it has to have 1 year left. Like HAS to. (Half of Svens money is buried which is why it's 7.5) Any trade Van makes this off season the biggest cap hit has to be leaving Van. Sutter is the right answer but we need to take back garbage players with like money retained or something.

Buf and Van are in similar boats and will be competing for trade partners but unlikely to be working with each other. Maybe Seattle can take Okposo, Ryan, Eriksson and Lucic and everyone can just bribe their troubles away. Any 3 of those would make the worst line in history.

You can add tampa bay and toronto to the list (choked with the cap)
