As a Rangers fan, this trade pierces my soul. Shesty will be a Ranger for the next 10-15 years. I also don't think it's a good look to trade the two guys who were the foundation of 3 cup winning teams.

Kane and Toews will retire as Blackhawks. They've built such a hockey culture in Chicago, it would be so foolish to trade them for a "rebuild". In the past two drafts, the hawks have had 3 1st round picks including #3 in 2019 and #8 in 2018. They don't need to trade these guys to rebuild. They can do it on the fly.

If they aren't gonna push for a cup in the next 3 years it would be wise to trade them sooner than later. They have significant value right now but will probably drop off by the end of their contracts. They might also want another shot at the cup. It's up to the players of they want to move they have NMCs.

You dont need the cap if you have all guys on ELC. Plus it maximizes the return.

Buffalo not taking that deal gives Eichel another reason to leave Buffalo. It's a sign they arent competing in the next 3 years.

Buffalo says no to their deal, hawks and rangers both say no to that rangers deal. Shesterkin could be great, but rangers fans think his value is through the moon. He's worth a lot, but not lane. Overall the rangers are not the type of team that should even think about making a lane move. Trading their young pieces would suck. And no way the hawks pay 10.5 mil per year for toews and lane to play on different teams. Thats rediculous.

And that's why you guys are gonna do the 20 year rebuild instead of the 5 year rebuild.

None of the core would waive NMC's anyways. Especially to Buffalo. It wont be a 20 year rebuild, but even if it was ill take that along with 3 cups in 7 years every time. It doesn't look like you're in much of a position to talk "Leafs and Sens fan". Leafs last win was 1967 and the sens was 2007. Theres been a whole lot of bad in both those franchises the past decade

Hey I'm a fan of the team not the management... if they didnt keep trading for rentals when they were a borderline non playoff team they'd be set.

Once they traded Kessel the rebuild started.
