NJD trade is brutal, why would the Hawks move a solid up and down the lineup NHL player for a defensive kid that is 5'8" and bounces between the ECHL and NHL?

DET trade, we are trading a solid prospect in Kurashev and a NHL defenseman for a 3rd round draft pick from 6 years ago that has seen 9 NHL games in the 2018 and 2019 seasons total and can't stick on one of the worst teams in the league. At the AHL level, he is a .25ppg player. Again, this makes zero sense for the Hawks.

Regarding the PIT trade, Hawks have a logjam of LHD prospects including former 1st rounders so taking on another guy would not help out, is there another prospect?

I would prefer not to make the PIT trade at all. Crow "should" cost less than $5.5M and we're not required to figure out the long term solution today. I'd prefer to keep Nylander.

Chicago really needs another starter if they re-sign Crawford. The guy is always on the IR.

Detroit doesn't want the defenseman that lost his roster spot to Jack Johnson. We will keep our 3rd pick from 6 years ago thank you very much!

Didn't go on it once last year. He does have an injury history (I was at the game when Evander Kane through Dylan Strome into Crow), but losing assets for Matt Murray isn't the answer. The Hawks did the right think and allowed him TONs of time to heal. Heck Crosby had just as much concussion issues early on in his career...he turned out just fine. I'd FAR rather sign Crawford and Talbot than lose assets. There's nothing that says the Hawks are required to find their long term solution today....and no, as of today I don't think Murray is a good enough long term solution.

***EDIT*** Just so you know, Corey Crawford was literally (statistically) the best goalie in the entire NHL in high danger situations. Not one single goalie better. So he's still pretty darn elite.

He didnt lose his roster spot. Pens wanted to trade Johnson but no one wanted to take him unless we give a decent prospect back like Hallander. I like Maata i prefer him over Schultz cause schultz has been brutal this season

Agreed. Why would we give our best prospect and a goalie with good value for Alex Nylander? Joseph could make pens lineup next season. It makes sense to keep jo and murrs and then trade murray for a 1st or a 1st 2nd 3rd because nhl teams are smart

So they played the worse of the 2 in the playoffs because they wanted to trade Johnson but Maatta the one who got traded. OK buddy.

No team goes with the worse player in the playoffs.
