I would love to see what a Trotz/Barrie marriage would look like, but I really can't see it happening at that price or term.

I don't think barrie will command that much given (1) his poor season (2) the low salary cap and (3) a glut of puck moving RHDs on both the free agent and trade market. I think he's in a similar position as Jake gardiner was last year

1 - he had a poor few months with Babcock, looked like himself with Keefe, so I doubt that factors in
2 - Typically it's the lower end guys that squeezed by low cap
3 - Pietrangelo is still no guarantee to hit UFA, which would leave Barrie as the top option at puck moving RHD options (Vatanen, Shattenkirk, Schultz are really the only other 3 that can play big minutes and have any chance of hitting 30+ pts).
4 - Gardiner was coming off a worse season, and was coming off a pretty serious hip injury and he was offered 5 x $5M from MTL and a few others. He cost himself money by playing the long game.

I can't see Barrie coming in at any less than 6 x $6M.

you left out Brodie from the top PMDs list, he eould sit the closest to Barrie due to his speed and game sense

Yes, forgot about the left handed RD. Agreed he would likely get paid fairly close to Barrie.

It wouldn’t work out - nick Leddy has regressed under trotz.

Yeah, I like Barrie (and Trotz for that matter) but I would kind of like to watch that car crash.

If people thought he looked rough under Babcock, I could only imagine how he'd look with Trotz.

I like trotz, but he doesn’t allow for D to take risks and he never ices the best roster with the personnel he has.

Barrie would help NYI powerplay but he’d be below replacement level at 5 v 5 if he played for trotz.

Yeah, Barrie's effectiveness is gone 5v5 unless he's allowed to play rover more or less.

Hahaha an 80+ point player for a 35 pt rhd. Definitely a Chirelli esque trade.
