Confirmed Botterill and Draft info

Created by: gerowrj16
Team: 2020-21 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 26, 2020
Published: May 26, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Basically.....

- If teams 1-7 get all 1-3 picks, phase 2 will not happen
- If teams 8-15 get at least one pick in top 3, only teams 8-15 have another lottery to determine who will get that pick
- So outcome is that the bottom 7 teams will find out what pick they will get in Phase 1 even if phase 2 happens
- BULL****, bottom 7 teams that didn't get top 3 pick should be involved in phase 2 lottery
- https://t.co/r8k29yYrDc?amp=1

Also...... quote from Kim Pegula that makes Sabres fanbase go nuts

“I realize, maybe it’s not popular with the fans, but we have to do the things that we feel are right, We have a little bit more information than maybe a fan does, some inner workings that we see some positives in.”

Its not bull****, it essentially works out the exact same way as the regular lottery. What you are saying is essentially this: last year Chicago won the lottery to move from 12th to 3rd. So since they won they should redo their lotto win so teams that didnt win get a 2nd chance.

But teams 1-7 are not involved in the second lottery draft which is why I am calling it bull****.

But thats the point, they didnt win the initial lottery, the pick was won by Team "x" from the play in round. Why do the 1-7 teams that didnt win get a 2nd chance?

Bottom 7 teams have nothing to complain about. Their lottery chances are the exact same as they would be in a regular season

You douchebag, it should be done after the qualifying rounds are over. If you have a chance at the cup you shouldn’t have a chance to win the lottery.

The chance at the cup also allows you to go from a top 10 pick to bottom 15 so its a double edged sword. with the bottom 7 and top 8 teams you have the only guarantee in the league, a smart man always takes the guarantee over the 50/50 bet

That's not BS at all...think about it, your giving the sabres, of they don't get that first pick 2 chances at a top 3 pick...so the sabres will have 2 chances to get a pic...meaning that out of the bottom 7 all the teams that don't get the lottery are like hey let's get a second chance which is unfair to the other 8...

Every team that starts the season gets a chance at the cup, what they are doing it playing out the "rest of the season" in a couple games, meaning that if MTL beat PIT...then essentially it's like saying Pit lost and dropped out of the wildcard and MTL moved up into a Wild Card, if that makes sense to you. So the 8 teams that miss the Wild card in the first round, Example Pittsburgh... They would then be given a chance at the lottery, meaning that they would probably be the 15th pick by point percentage, so they would have very low chance of getting a pick in the top3 let alone #1.

It is "after the qualifying rounds are over" technically. Did you watch the video? So im MTL right and I lose to PIT, v realistic. And out of the top 3 #3 is won by a placemarker...so MTL enters a lottery where they have pretty much the highest odds to get that #3 placemarker pick...that make sens

And a legit playoff team having a bad series off a three month standstill, gets eliminated from the contention round and get a top 3 pick. Sounds about right. (Pittsburgh, Carolina, Toronto, Islanders, Oilers, Canucks, Predators)

Yeah they probably do deserve it, Everyone of those teams played like dog **** at one point or another this year. And again thats why they have lower odds then the teams that didn't make it.

They were not given a win 4 rounds and youre in the finals chance at the cup. You could argue i have a chance at the cup at the start of every season as well, by that logic

So...your a NHL team? The season didn't continue... So teams just out of the playoffs would have technically had a chance to make the playoffs right? Last year STL would have probably been put of a playoff spot at this time in the season. To be fair to the teams with a chance 4 right below the wildcard in terms of point percentage where given a chance at a series vs a team, the farther away (MTL) face the best team (PIT) that simulates, in a bit very realistic but best way possible for now, the difficulty of moving up into the playoffs. Yes IK it was decreased from 20 games to 5 or whatever it is, but I hope that makes sense. After you finish those games you will have a normal playoffs 16team bracket that is just as normal as it is every year. I hope your logic can take in this.

Instead of having a three week training camp they should really just finish the ****ing regular season instead of this ****in nonsense!

They really needed to finish the regular season somehow so the draft stayed normal, this is so ****ed up.

Me too, imo the biggest flaw is the decreasing playoff odds for teams like PIT who were more likely to make the playoffs in the regular season than in a best of 5 series vs MTL, but this isn't a perfect system. The league did a pretty good job overall considering the circumstances. Especially the lottery which was very well done in terms of fairness

There is a very low chance of that happening. Also, that was a possibility even before this new format was announced. None of those teams were guaranteed a playoff spot so it's quite possible they could've missed the playoffs and won the lottery even if the season was never cancelled

It was already stupid that a team could narrowly miss the playoffs & still pick in the top 3

Now a team that actually makes the playoffs has a shot?
    That’s bullsh!t, period

    Going forward:
I’d like to see it stay at 24 teams in the playoffs
Only teams that miss get a shot at the playoffs, and can only move up a max of 3 spots
