Description
Lets say the penguins get lucky and there is indeed a CBO. Bye horny.
All indications are the penguins are planning to play Hallander next year.
They have basically told him the job is his to lose in camp. Be it as 4C or 3C at this point.

MTL or OTT takes Jugs for a 4th. Either one can either flip him, or use him as center unless he sits on LTIR the whole year in which case it costs them nothing. They can have the rights to Erod for taking him.
The JJ trade is simple to ANA. ANA is in pure rebuild mode. They can stretch a low cap hit out after a buy out. The buyout after next year is the same as the cost to play him so it's assured no matter where he goes. The question is who can spread the cap hit out without it effecting the team much and ANA is the answer. They are in pure rebuild, their stars have aged and it's time to get on with it. My assumption is that ANA will be looking for D next year. As I don't think a team starting a rebuild in an extremely high tax state is all that attractive to FA.

JJ is a 1 year contract. He is bought out after next year as the cost of buying him out is almost the same as paying him next year. 3.25 to 3.5. The cap hit over 4 years is roughly 1 million per. ANA is in rebuild mode and can easily deal with it as they players are aging out. They get a cheap back up goaltender who is a solid player to put behind Gibson and their 4th round pick back. JJ can be buried in the AHL for roughly 2 million for the 1 year he plays.

Where do you see Hallender is ready to play in the NHL next year? I say he gets at least a year in the AHL

They have already stated he won't play in the AHL.
He is either playing in the NHL or going back to europe.
The job is his to lose.

I hope he makes it. He’d be a good 3C for us

I think that is there plan. What he did last year in the grown ups league was impressive. They know he's ready to make the jump.
They have been making subtle comments on it. I have read like 4 things on it. The gist of it all is. He resigned to play back in Europe, but they aren't just inviting him to camp to "hang out." He's here to win the job. I think they view him as someone who can start in the 4C role and grow into it. As they have the luxury of having a really solid player in Blueger. Furthermore, one of his strengths is faceoffs.
So he can probably slide right in.

I don’t view McCann as a true C so Hallender making it would be huge for us. Like you said it’s his spot to lose

I would love if Hallander does this but "IF" he makes team it will prob be at LW, I just dont see Pens giving him 3C duties off the start tho.... Only set back is coming back from the dreaded broken leg in Hockey takes a while (usually not always tho)

from what I understand about his leg break, is it was not by the ankle....so no problem there.
Also, I think he will indeed start at center. Because he is really solid on the dot going in an adult league.
Now there is no way to see how that transitions, but it's a good sign when you are known for your faceoffs.
