Not enough value for Kapanen imo. Also no way SDA is NHL ready.

Why the pay-cut for TH?
TML are one of the, if not the, richest franchises in the league.
* Barrie got ran out of town with his tail between his legs (like Gardner, Kaberle, Murph) before him. You honestly think Hamonic wants to be carved into tiny pieces for a pay cut...nadda!

How much is a guy 6 years removed from his draft year with 41 career goals worth?

It's probably a fair price for Kapanen, it's just to the wrong team. MN is stacked for wings already.

Thats really isn't a good way of evaluating a players value... He has only played 2 full seasons. So it took him a little longer to become a full time player.

Ondrej Kase has 43 career goals, same draft class and he got traded for a 1st rounder and a prospect.
Kapanen has been more consistent than Kase in recent years and I would argue he is flatout better than Kase.

So no, a 2nd and a 3rd doesn't do it.

"Ondrej Kase has 43 career goals, same draft class and he got traded for a 1st rounder and a prospect." and DAVID BACKES...

David backes and maybe the last pick of the 1st round.

Because goals is such a great measurement of a player...

If we dont get a good RHD for him I'd rather just hold onto him. He's our best PK'er and only 23.

Yes and Backes.. Point is I would argue Kapp is better than Kase and yes he is highly valued by Toronto, but a 2nd and 3rd just wouldn't get it done

I never said you need to trade him, just that he isnt as valuable, especially at his salary as leafs fans imagine

Uhhh 3.1m?? He's considerably better then JG Pageau who just signed for 5m x 6yrs. His salary is really good, especially considering he's an RFA at the end of it.

Better?
Hmmmmm, I say equal is a better observation...
KK (TML) = 202GP_41G_49A_90Pts for US$3.2M per at 23 yrs old signed to 21-22
OK (ANA) = 204GP_43G_54A_97Pts for US$2.6M per at 24 yrs old signed to 20-21 - he was injured in BOS so his #'s are 99% w/ a crummy Duck squad...

The value to TML does not matter 1-Iota to the GM on the other side of the table; that GM wants player-X at his/her value - or no deal...

JGP last year ppg: 0.307
Kapanen last year ppg: 0.56

JGP this year ppg: 0.63
Kapanen this year ppg: 0.52

Main takeaway: JGP had one good season while Kapanen is more consistent.

JGP SKATR score this year: 54
Kapanen SKATR score this year: 57

Again close, but Kapanen is still the superior player. Also note last year JGP was only a 39.

JGP PK score: 28
Kapanen PK score: 58

Kapanen is clearly the better Penalty Killer.

JGP On-ice CF% percentile: 21
Kapanen On-ice CF% percentile: 70

Again not even close. When Kapanen is on the ice he is much more impactful and better at moving the puck then JGP.

Also important to note that Kapanen is 4 yrs younger.

This is the correct move for Tor. He's a guy they need to keep. On a fair/good contract, young, plays a nice 2-way game, can play up in the lineup, and adds scoring.

One guy plays on a playoff team with superstars, another guy played in ottawa.

Pageau is also a center

SKATR scores ARE TEAMMATE RELATIVE!!! Also, I'd rather have Anthony Duclair and Connor Brown on my line then Kerfoot and Johnsson. Not by much, but I still would. And I understand being a C is important, but 2m important?
