Why sign Barzal and Pulock for only 5 years?

That's what agents seem to push for these days, I figured at those AAVS that would be the compromise

Yeah they should lock them up for 6+ years IMO

Looks really good. Not sure if Hickey and Leddy get moved in the same deal, but I think you moved the three guys who are most likely to go.

I don't know what Barzal's next contract looks like. Probably something like Point (6.75 x 3) or Aho (8.5 x 3) like you have. Either way, it fits so idc

I like it a lot

Leddy as a stand alone nets a 2nd. Hickey will not, even if you're moving a 4th. UFA market on the blueline is too deep to even justify that price point.

To offload Hickey right now I think costs an actual asset.

Winnipeg does not pay 2 second rounders for Leddy and Hickey who has a history of injuries and is playing in the AHL right now. Have a bigger pressing need at RHD over the left side

Figured Leddy is worth a 2nd and 3rd, maybe not. Hickey could easily be sent down to the AHL again for cap savings, wouldn't lose an asset over him

can send him to the minors sure... but the jets would still have $1.5M of his cap hit on their roster. Not worth having that playing in the AHL.

He's talking about the Islanders' not losing an asset for him, not Winnipeg.

Going on the Marcus Johansson trade a few years ago (2nd and 3rd), Leddy is probably worth a 2nd and 4th in isolation. But the other teams know that NY is under pressure to move some cap, so on the market this off-season, he'll probably get a 3rd and a 5th. Note that the Kings' 2020 third would be the Islanders' first pick in the 2020 draft.
