No way he does that

and can delete the Clifford signing, he isn't needed

Just hope for less term for Krug so less $, take some money off DeBrusk and give it to Grzelcyk . Sign free agents forwards for Providence, not Boston, there are 4-5 guys that will battle for spots and will save $.

I don't hate the Clifford signing, but you could get someone like Frederic to play a similar role.

On Krug, I'm wonder if we see something like a 4yr deal. I know the norm/default is to say this is when they get the 7/8 year deal, but even on a 4yr deal Krug is 32yr old when it expires. Being an OFD and PP threat means he should still be effective for another 3-4 years and at that point the cap will be significantly higher than it is now. IDK maybe something like 4yr/$6.5 per year is what I'm thinking if its not a long term deal. I know there will be many comments along the lines of "Krug will sign for 7 or 8" or "Krug will get more on the open market" and they maybe right. Just an alternative thought, where Krug is still making good money on a cup contender and could return home after 4 years (at which point DET should be contenders).

Good RFA Deals!
Good chara deal, maybe a bit much for Krug, who knows if dadonov signs a 1 year deal but cool idea.
But they do not need to sign Clifford, Studnicka will be ready to play NHL hockey and they have both Blidh and Lindholm
The Moore trade is good, but they just traded hienen for ritchie, they arent giving him up for less than a 2nd

Overall: Not bad, but needs a few corrections

Isn't it if the term goes down the $ goes up. For example if krug signed for 4yrs wouldn't he want to demand closer to 7-8 mil as opposed to signing at 7-8yrs and demanding 6-7 mil, like the oshie deal

I think in theory that makes a ton of sense. Agent's however, likely try to maximize as much as possible. Unless their client is adamant they want something else?

Agree KB. Or Krug has a total US$ number in mind for him to sign off on (i.e.: $40, 45, XXMil etc.) and then the term can be negotiated/worked out from there?

In this case (as generic as it sounds) Krug's desire to stay in Boston and win a cup could be the thing he's adament that he wants. The team is very close with a serious contender window of 2-3 years. I still think they'll be good after that but a lot hinges on guys like Studnicka, Coyle, DeBrusk etc..

Yeah, saw an article/interview or two where he mentioned his desire for taking a hometown haircut.

Two things - think his agent may have been a little peeved w/ that (I have no idea really), and
DS still has time before he MUST sign him. So I think it's just that - wait for now because tomorrow could be another chapter that is the 2020-s*it show...the year that just keeps on giving!

I imagine the shutdown and flat cap also threw a wrinkle in talks between the two sides
McGruff liked this.
