Actually think MTL may be lucky with a flat cap and one of those players like Hall or Hoffman looking for a good 1 year deal until the league knows the cap is going up

Howard is one player you don't have to worry about. Pretty sure he is retiring.

I think Hall's a guy that the Canadiens should try to get for big money on like a two year deal. They can afford it actual money wise and they have the cap space to fit him in. If you'e on track to make the playoffs at the deadline, great, if not trade him at half retained for a massive return. Works for Hall too because he gets a big short term payday and gets to re-up in two years when the cap is (hopefully) going up and he's still not too old.

I'd rather take a cap dump and get some assets tbh

I'd rather re-sign Tatar who we know works out well in MTL and already has chemistry with some players here

Hoffman would be amazing in MTL... type of player that MTL missed in their roster... and at 7M... it's a go!

Claiming Antti Niemi off waivers when you have a goalie injured is different than signing Jimmy Howard to be your backup.

I completely agree about everyone, except maybe Namestnikov. Although signing him doesn’t necessarily make sense in terms of roster room.

He's been highly unproductive without a star player on his side, which we don't really have. I'm just not a fan of him in general

Because he was great for the habs. Howard has been less than great this year.
