screwing around

Created by: NR1203
Team: 2020-21 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: May 27, 2020
Published: May 27, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The sens have a TON of cap space and they could probably build a team (like the 2016-17 Leafs) that surprises people depending on their draft luck.

I ran a lottery simulator on tankathon and the Sens won #2 and #3 (L.A got the first pick). So, I decided to draft Byfield with #2 and trade back to draft Drysdale at #5 and get some extra capital.

Duclair goes to arbitration demanding 4 million, Sens counter at 2.75 and the arbitrator settles at 3.15

P.S I'm not a sens fan but I thought it would be fun to try this, please let me know how badly i screwed up

No guarantee's that Jamie Drysdale falls to #5 overall. Detroit is probably picking at number 4 and i can definitely see Yzerman taking one of Drysdale, Raymond/Rossi with that pick.

Do u think Detroit is high on Raymond? I’d love to get him and if they aren’t then there’s a super high chance he’s available to Ottawa

I think Raymond is better than Drysdale. Drysdale was ranked #7 by hockeyprospect.com and #5 by eliteprospects. I don't think Detroit would reach on him because Detroit already has Seider, Hronek, Cholowski so I feel like Raymond would be a better fit. You could be right though.

Well first of all, if he tells them that he wants to return, they could do this trade, he could simply play Ottawa for a week and then come back. Also, if this trade is done on draft night, they would still be allowed to talk to him up until July 1 because of the negotiating window. The only difference is that Ottawa would have a chance to close a deal before then.[

Well if they choose not to trade down the Sens could simply pull a shocker and draft him at 3. Stuzle would be the other option there. I think trading down makes more sense because it still gives them a top prospect but also some capital which they use to get their #1 centre (who would be #2 long-term as Byfield develops)

You can never have enough RD though they're at a premium. Yzerman could take Drysdale and maybe try and move Hronek in a package deal for say Sergachev. Not saying he'd do it. But it could be possible. Plus Hronek and Seider have been playing on their offsides. So Drysdale is a very realistic target. But i agree that Raymond is probably the wiser choice here.

If Ottawa get 1 and 4. I’m taking Laf and Raymond. I’m really really high on Raymond.

Not really hearing much on Raymond from Yzermans perspective? I know Yzerman has reportedly heavily scouted Stutzle, Drysdale and Rossi. So i'd imagine one of Rossi or Drysdale or perhaps Askarov could be his potential target Detroit could also use a elite franchise type goalie like Yaraslov Askarov as well. So we'll still get a very good player no matter what.

Raymond would be sweet for you guys, I kind of have mixed emotions on him since he's really not getting much top notch minutes in the Swedish league. Button seems pretty high on him. Possibly our 2nd line of Raymond-Veleno-Zadina might not be bad and Detroit definitely needs right handed shooters like Raymond.

At 4 Raymond is the guy. I think the top 4 should be set in stone (Laf, Byfield, German dude and Raymond) but after that it's a bit more iffy.
