Giving Bracco a Chance

Created by: Leafs_and_Sens_Fan
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 27, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Give Bracco a chance to boost his trade value at the start of next season. Bracco takes a discount in return for being guaranteed 10 games with Matthews.

If it doesn't work out no harm done. It just makes it easier for us to pass him through waivers. Switch Nylander back to Matthews wing and push the the LW up one line. Throw Gauthier or Brooks in on the 4th line to be LW.

It's only 10 games... he'll live. That's why he's getting paid so much.

I'd just let him run the PP.

Honestly I would rather see Brooks playing big minutes with the Marlies. See him as a pretty good 3C option in another year.

Bracco had a lot going on with injuries and off the ice last year. Certainly has hurt his value, but not sure he is washed up. Just hard to pin where he is, which gives everyone reservations about his ability to make the jump.

I for one am unsure. The skill is there, but last year's regression - issues or not - was concerning.

Agree with Brooks as a Marlie. He will never be anything more than a 4th line player in the NHL. He just won't. That is fine. We don't need him to play up in the lineup.

A 3C? Forget it. No chance.

He has value as a 4th line player and an injury sub no doubt.

he may surprise some people. Nobody thought binnington would be what the blues needed and look what he did. Led them to a cup

I would put him on the third line and see what he does. Also would throw him on pp2. I think Bracco could surprise some people

Realistically, I wouldn't do either, but if I were trying to up his value like mentioned, I'd put him on PP1 with Matthews and Tavares

Think he has more game than a 4C, but if that's what he is, that's what he is. Depth is depth.

The goal is to win games, not boost a fringe NHLer's trade value.

I do think Bracco has a spot in the NHL, but that spot is on a bad team that needs wing depth. But he's more of a guy to take a chance on as a waiver claim than giving up any assets (maybe a change of scenery type of trade?) to get.

The Bracco love? He has essentially been written off by every Leafs fan. I actually think he can still be a player. Probably not with the Leafs, but given the opportunity I think he could be a player

I have seen 1000 examples of him getting traded for a 5th rounder.
The kid led the AHL in scoring a year ago. He has some upside.

Just saying I could see him cracking an NHL lineup somewhere and being a 3rd line winger

I put him with Matthew's just to gauge where hes at as a play not because he's better than Nylander and Marner.

Yes I also had him offer sheeted. But you forgot to mention that there was no compensation associated with the offersheet because the offer was for 1.395M for 1 season...

There is zero chance he even gets a one way deal.

A gm saying, “take a discount and I’ll let you play with this player,” is not a real life concept.

I mean the team fits under the cap even without the discount. But it has been done before.

Oh? I would love to hear some example of that.

Imagine a GM coming to a coach and saying, “you’ve got to play this rookie that looks like he sucks on the top line because I promised him that so he would take a discount!”
