      This is a refreshing post!

The Habs have some fantastic young players in the system, but the needs you highlight are very clear. So many times I have seen how people talk about Romanov and Mete and Caufield. They just might be that good. But the "rebuild waiting game" has been going on for 3 -4 years.

Now frankly, I do think Suzuki can be a 1C, I think Romanov can be a #1 LD. The issue is - they ain't there. Price is 31. Waiting these guys out has this team in the same spot in 2-3 years imo. Time is now.

MTL is fine at center. LHD yes, still a problem but not as glaring a need as it was

Problem is u can’t. You’ll trade for someone with a huge contract and sink your team. We honestly have to wait for kk, suzuki and Romanov to develop. It’s tough but bergevin never blew it up when he should have

Johanson Honeymoon seems over in Nashville... so the cost won't be devastating... and rebuilt Minny & LA as well... that's why I have targeted those 3 guys without giving Suzuki, KK, Romanov, Primeau

Not possible. You’ll have to stay this way and hope prospects develop quickly. It’s the only way

MTL has a bunch of picks, they could probably get Leddy for a good price

Good point... I heard Leddy trade in MTL for the last 2-3years now and never happen... Went for a bigger fish

A name that may be worth exploring is Ekholm. I really doubt NSH goes the 4-4 route in the expansion draft again, so I think Ekholm would be the odd man out

You're not getting Werenski for that package nor Kopitar. Need to offer far better deals in both to even entertain the thought of either player.

1st line C I would try amd target Barkov - but that price point is gonna be steep, steep, steep. Likely would look like Caufield, Romanov, 1st and maybe KK. That would be very counter productive. It's a poisition where, at the moment, I see 3 good options at centre that can move up and down the line up (Suzuki, Danault and Domi). KK should be on the wing spelling at centre. Short of that, it's either paying way too much money to justify it, or the skill level of the player would not be a drastic upgrade over the current core.

As for LD? I see a real issue with the overall mobility and transition game from the back end. Sergachev would be a filthy OS target (and it's something to seriously consider).

In a trade? Depending on the Blues plans, Vince Dunn could be interesting ( I would be looking younger given what you are willing to move), or Nick Leddy, who I have felt would a be marvelous option with just the right price point (2nd rounder I think) and term to allow for the proper development of Romanov and Mete.

I hate plus minus but a minus 1 on a defensive team. Vince Dunn isn’t worth much. Let Romanov play. As for kk don’t have him on the wing

Barkov would be tooooo expensive... or like Eichel who said that he will accept to be trade out! Value would then go down a little... but still toooo expensive.
At D, Leddy would have been great 2 years ago... a for a secong draft pick... it worth to try... but I like the idea on going after Serghachev OS the Bolts 5y x 6M... they can't bridge him for 2 y @ 3M.

I’d guess at least a first and something. I can’t see them wanting to move him. They can protect 7 3 1 in the expansion
