Botterill named Ristolainen as a core part of the team. Doubt he goes anywhere.

Get a plethora of picks and prospects, what they should have done with Kane and ROR

Unfortunately. I’m still holding hope they can move him.

Buf has already wasted 5 years of Eichel, how long before he gets sick of losing and tries to get out? You just moved your contention window out another 3-5 years while these new picks/prospects mature into quality NHL players. One of them might even turn into a Reinhart or a Risto.

Just a personal belief, it’s not popular but I like Thompson better than Mittlestadt.

This is a lazy narrative. Honestly players have incentive to play. Like their contract and getting paid. Another incentive is winning. Sure would be great to have both. But say botts is gone next year and you have a GM who doesn’t take kindly to “trade me or else” and just says or else what. You gonna sit out and miss 10M a year and get paid nothing to prove a point? I doubt it. Players don’t have control of the roster. They have control of their play and their pay. He’s under contract and the Sabres have no reason to move him, even if he “tries to get out”

Are you suggesting they have a contention window within 3-5 years? I would disagree that this changes anything as they get decent NHLers back. Ive done many a trade where they get a 2c immediately along with a prospect and a gamble player. The rosters dont look worse. Thats also why the botched ROR trade was franchise defining
