If CBO's are a thing, BOS would be an option but it will cost ya something: _____________________________ (<<<< insert offer here).
BUT there will be no CBO imo, the NHLPA will not axe 31-ish players or 5% of their members union...

Basically any team who has no need to use a cbo (toronto, boston, etc) is just gonna sit with a sign saying (you want us to use our CBO for yah well you gotta pay us to do it)

    True.
Just don't think it's in the cards this time around imo...

Just posted this a minute ago elsewhere (re: Cap) but is applicable to CBO scenario too:
Doubt it will go down [cap]...
Players and owners will "plug their proverbial noses" for the short-term knowing that new monie$ are going to be hyper-injected soon via Expansion, new TV/Streaming deals and Gambling.
Oh yeah, one more thing, did I mention Gambling yet!!?!

If u talk about gambling the leafs are in that dilema

They could purposely throw against columbus to get a lotto pick and get a guy like Drysdale or Astorov cause of the new rules) or they beat columbus and move on to possibly lose to boston. Literally the NHL has made it where losing is beneficial and winning is just a struggle.

My gambling text reference is more in the "Sports Betting" revenue side of things for the league and players...

Players play to win tho 110%...
I play my beer league like I'm 16 again, can't imagine the intensity the pro's play with - off the chain!!

True, its tough in this situation cause both winning and losing is beneficial in this format. If it was up to me Leafs play like they did against boston when they met in the playoffs. If they can play in a similar fashion they stand a very good chance of beating Columbus. Also its gonna be up to freddie and that stellar offense to get them to the 2nd round. When they go against boston it will be the well rested vs. the well conditioned so it could go either way. But after that I dont know if the leafs advance or fall. All I know is hockey is coming back and I get to see playoffs again

You’re going to have a hard time making a trade with a team if they don’t want to make the trade.

And you don’t want to put Jonathan Drouin on centre. He’s probably as effective of a centre as Brent Burns is. And Karl Alzner isn’t an NHLer on any team. He’s worse than a good chunk of the defensemen in the AHL.
