If you going to trade Matthew, (and you 100% should not trade Matthews..... like ever) you should trade him out west to someone like Anaheim for Steel, Comtois, 2020 1st and 2021 2nd and 2022 1st. At least get him out of your division so you only play him twice a year and he can’t kill you in the playoffs until the Stanley cup finals....

I thought the same thing when you tried to trade 7 years of Vlassic for 2 years of Bobby Ryan

Buffalo has too many crap contracts to even make the playoffs. I'm not worried I would just want the maximum return.

I’d say that Steel and Comtios is better then Olofsson and Cozens for Toronto as both players from Anaheim are on ELCs... that means you can sign Pie and Markstrom if you move Campbell....

Also don’t underestimate what an Eichel and Matthews pair can do... Drai and McDavid might get a run for their money.

You don’t want that many returns to Toronto for him, this is a update the resume trade, especially if cozens doesn’t fulfill expectations and leafs draft mediocre outside top 7

Dubas is pretty good at drafting. Liljegren, Sandin, Robertson. 7th overall is likely Rossi or Holtz.

I think Buffalo definitely wins the trade but if you factor Pietrangelo into it I think the Leafs win.

30 year old pietrangelo depends if he ages well, we will see on your draft wins and drafts well outside of top 7. Jury still out on majority of your wins, sandin I will take as a win

Fair enough my point is they could use some more Marlies help and not everyone coming out of top half of first round. I still have confidence In sandin and lillegren coming as viable pair, and hopefully robertson transitions easy from junior.

Not only are we trading Matthews but we're trading him to the Sabres and not getting Eichel or Dahlin back? Leafs get absolutely robbed here and now the Sabres have 2 franchise centreman

Buffalo would love Matthew's but they can not afford that contract without shedding more cap.

Sabres run laughing, I mean we just got set up like the Stanley Cup winning Penguins, 2 star centers, 1 star Dman, players will take deals to play with those 2... and we would knock Toronto out every year from the playoffs

Toronto would have to add to a matthews for eichel trade buddy.

2Cs and a star D isnt all it takes, ask Toronto (Eichel and Dahlin better than JT and Rielly obviously) but still doesn't lead to players taking better deals or winning cups

Are you kidding me?

Eichel has a better contract and has put up tremendous numbers on a terrible team. Are you honestly telling me that if Eichel and Matthews switched spots Eichel would have NO improvement on his numbers and Matthews would have no decrease?

Who is Eichel's Tavares? Last year it was Marcus Johansson, Evan Rodrigues and Curtis Lazar.

Last 3 years Eichel ppg: .96, 1.06, 1.16
Last 3 years Matthews ppg: 1.02, 1.07, 1.14

Last 3 years Toronto goals for: 277 (2nd in league), 286 (4th), 238 (3rd)
Last 3 years Buffalo goals for: 199 (31st in league), 226 (24th), 195 (21st)

Don't know why Tavares matters when they don't even play together except on the PP. Matthews is a better goal scorer and better defensively and is a year younger. Sure the Leafs have better offensive talent around Matthews but Matthews scored 40 still in his rookie year playing with a rookie Nylander and Hyman. Not saying theres a huge difference but Matthews definitely gets the edge. Matthews is probably the 4th best C and Eichel 5/6 depending on if you consider Draisaitl better. Either way, Leafs definitely do not add
