He was still creating chances playing with Frolik, and Lazar. He’s scoring 30 goals next year, if he can play with nhl quality players.

Skinner will likely "bounce back" playing with Eichel, if the Sabres can find a 2C then at least they'll have options in the top 6 , Rico isn't it , although clearing 14.4 million has its positives it ultimately sets the back to Eichels draft year

As someone that watched Skinner for his entire career, this is the real Skinner. He needs a playmaker. He worked so well with Jordan Staal for that reason. It's difficult when he isn't because he isn't scoring, and defensively, Skinner just isn't good. He'll likely bounce back to around the 20-25 goal mark, but he's not gonna hit 30. Him hitting 40 was a career year, he won't do that likely ever again. I say likely because teams are dumb and if someone dumps a high-end playmaker in Buffalo.... but probably not.

Who? The 1 man team, or the pending restricted free agent?

I don't know about this deal. Buffalo would be dumb to do this IMO as Risto and Skinner have more value in separate deals.
If the ducks wanna move on from "Uncle RIco" I think there are a lot of teams out there willing to pay fair market value for a 30 year old with 4 years at 5+ mill left on his deal

I did not know Victor Rask and Derek Ryan were considered "elite centers" as they were Skinner's line mates his last 2 seasons with Carolina.
It was certainly more likely that he was carrying Rask, than the other way.

While the team was in the middle of a losing streak they went to Europe with a 9-4-2 record.
Both Ristolainen and Skinner were pushed around by Tampa, and not one stepped in to stop it.
Ten games later they are 11-10-4. The season was essentially over at that point.
I think Buffalo needs to add a player like Kassian who will step up.
Maybe Wayne Simmonds can step into that role.

I am the eternal optimist, but IMO Jeff will bounce back and suddenly everyone will be thrilled the we have him locked up for the balance of his career.

Skinner has always been hot and cold he's 10 years deep and has hit 30 or been on pace for 30 about 60% of the seasons he'd played the remaining seasons he's around the 20/25 goal mark - he's never been a playmaker by any means and has generally been a product of having a good play maker on his line. He's a 25 Goal 50/60 pt player with Average top 6 players - he's gets a 10 goal and 15 pt bump when he played with elite players

Thanks for your feed back.
Look what happened to Victor after Jeff was traded.
Not so much Ryan.
But neither are great play makers and Jeff carried the lines.

Botterill needs to add some heart to the team.
He tried his first year, bringing in 6 skaters with Stanley cup experience and 4 cups among them.
How did the team respond, they rewarded him with a lottery ticket to get Dahlin.
One of the players announced at the end of the season that he never had his heart in playing for Buffalo.
He went on to say he was excited about playing in Europe and it was the first time in years that he was excited about playing hockey.
He should have returned at least part of his pay check after confessing that he more excited about playing in Europe than Buffalo!

Neither Rask nor Ryan were GREAT play makers is my point.
Every player benefits from GREAT play makers.
Skinner will be better next year.
