i dont think marner is better than eichel, but the whole plays with better players is real tiring, reinhart was a 2nd overall pick, skinner scored 40 goals, kane was good and olofsson is good, not like the sabres didnt have chances to surround him with talent, because eichels teammates arent as good as marners and matthews shouldnt hurt them in aargument to see whos better, cant keep on saying IF eichel had this and IF eichel had that he would be way better, cant say someones better based of of an 'IF", just salty nitpicking is what it is

I think this is honestly a fair trade that benefits both teams

Marner is the same age as Eichel though. Value seems alright to me but neither team makes this trade.

Marner plays with better players and doubt that he plays against opposite team top line like (Tavares line)

Eichel is a center, has a cheaper deal and more term.. plays against the best every night and still succeeds ......

eichel has 1 more year and makes 800k less, please dont bring the contract as an argument

they had very similar production this season (Eichel actually had slight edge in P/GP). Plus the fact that C > wingers, and consider the linemates both players play with + powerplay units and its pretty obvious who the better player is. Then also consider that Marner makes about 1M more than Eichel and has an extra year of term. I dont see how some extra roster players makes up the difference here. TOR adds a lot imo

fair, thought he had 2 more years, forgot he came in at 18.. was looking at the 8 year and 6 year contracts they signed

when i think of Eichel i think of a guy who went to the worst team in the NHL at 18 where they gutted their team to tank for MCdavid, where it was stated "players there r happy to be in the NHL" didn't have ambition for anything else... and succeeding there, becoming a franchise center, turning the Sabres into a decent team... but only so much 1 player can do

and when i think of Marner i think of a player drafted by Toronto (one of the worst teams at the time as well) but had the ambition to build a dynasty, willing to invest millions in their team, aka hiring Babcock, best coach at the time making him the highest paid coach in the nhl etc....they already had a good young core ready... Nylander, Reilly and next year Matthews who already is easily a top 10 center, and later on signed Tavares another top 10 center.. giving him all the opportunity in the world to succeed, and he did.. getting 94 points, 6 shy of 100 last year

yes Marner has more points but also more of a cushion, (by far) i rate Eichel higher is because i feel he had to work harder then Marner did to reach where he is now..... when ROR left buffalo he took his game to a new level cementing himself as one of the best 2 way centers in the NHL and being one of the key reason STL won the cup.. feel Eichel would do the same

dont get me wrong i agree eichel is better, i just dont think the contract being used as an argument is fair because the diff is so small
