Bruins in 5 years

Created by: Silkysmooth42
Team: 2019-20 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: May 29, 2020
Published: May 29, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously, these guys r gonna get bigger contracts which is why i havent signed anyone huge and there is a crap ton of cap room lol
But point is bruins are gonna maybe dip for two or three years and then gonna come back with a vengeance and a bunch of new prospects lol

Beecher and Stud - Top 6 Centers (one becomes elite hopefully :) ) They can swap depending

Pasta and Debrusk - elite wingers

Marchy - regressing but still solid on the second line, Coyle regressing but still a solid 3 line Center

Senyshyn, Kuhlman, Lauko, Bjork: all middle 6 wingers that can play 2nd line minutes if need be, but also fit the 3rd (and 4th line due to depth).

Steen, Freddy, Ritchie: 4th line grinders (along with Koppanen)

Defense is pretty much the same as rn, but Urho develops and takes up 1st pair minutes, Griz, is ready to play 2nd pair minutes when Krug retires after his next deal, and Krug is still solid as a 2nd pair guy, but gonna retire sooner rather than later.

Swayman, after nearly winning the Hobey Baker, makes his NHL debut in two years after Tuukka and Halak retire, and three year later, is a very Solid starter (maybe even elite, who knows).
Either Vladar or Keyser wins the bid as the backup, the other gets traded away.

McAvoy, Pastrnak, Marchand, Studnicka are probably guaranteed to be there

DeBrusk, Beecher, Coyle, Carlo likely as well

The rest, anything can happen just look at the 2015 team and compare it now, not many players remain so the depth players will be gone imo

Nothing about Jake Debrusk suggests to me he will ever be in the category of "elite"

lm not calling debrusk bad but I find it a bit far fetched to call him elite or will be, maybe he could but he hasnt really done anything to prove he is or can be in the elite category with a guy like pasta, at least at this point

I’d reconsider boys.
He’s a much bigger heavier sniper (like an ovi or something) so he’s not gonna go put up 100 point seasons or anything.
But he’s already a good top 6 guys at 23 and has room to grow still. Once he gets consistency down, he could be elite for years to come

I think he's very good. Very good players can play on your 1st line. I think the term elite is thrown around way too loosely.

I agree, but in saying that, it looks like he does too.
Most of the current depth guys (kuraly , Nordstrom, Moore, wags, kase, Miller, jaro, Lindholm, blidh) are all just gone
Most of the guys here now are just bruins prospects (aside from those you specifically listed).

I agree with you, but what I’m saying is I think bailk18 agrees too and he actually did a pretty good job at accounting for that

just saying elite is a strong word, and although he can be, he hasnt really shown it, like @Claesson4Norris said elite gets thrown around too loosely, thing is theres probably 10-15 wingers 25 and younger rn id have before debrusk, and thats already too many for elite

That’s the problem, in a hockey world where guys like Boeser are considered elite, the lines are being bent. Right now, based on other guys, debrusk will be “elite”, however if we can redefine the lines of “franchise” “elite” etc... then maybe debrusk will be just a top 6 guys

Elite is McDavid/Crosby/Ovi (Gretz, Lemieux, Orr...) all the rest are Very Good's...

i think those guys are more on the line of generational, leaving the tier below them at elite

keep Marchand and Pastrnak together. I don’t see Debrusk as a first line LW but he can be a great 2nd line LW.

Personally, Senyshyn will more than likely be a bottom 6 option. I just can’t see him as a second line winger anymore. They’ve been grooming him into a two way, forechecking winger in the AHL for that reason

Coyle is more than likely the second line center. Beechers offensive upside is the biggest question. Studnicka is more than likely the future 1st line center for now so good job there, but that’s assuming his development takes another big step.

Yep!! Nah exactly, figured all of the guys you didnt mention (Wags Kase Lindholm Kuraly, etc...) wouldnt come back. Then most of those guys that you did mention are the ones i kept, and everyone else is a prospect in the bruins system anyway

I agree with yall. I wouldnt call boeser or debrusk elite, but people have made that category SOOOOO broad and inclusive. (Especially EAsports). I just wish there was more spread out ratings and stuff.
But in a world where Boeser and (i cant even think of anyone else rn lol) are elite, we have to stay debrusk has elite potential.

Also to clarify, I dont think he is elite yet!!!!! But he is still 23 and has room to grow

No one wants Miller’s injury problems. Krug would have signed already for that little.

If only you could read

And no Krug has expressed he will take that little, I’m sure this virus situation has made negotiations much more confusing

I’d like to hear that audio, see the video or read the quote were Krug said that. If he did he would have signed already. Virus has nothing to do with it. Contracts have been signed by other teams. No reason to trade Zboril just to get a UFA out of Boston.

My god you really aren’t reading:
“ Just cleaning up
Miller - Retired
Zboril - traded for a 2nd or something at some point “

It was just a cleaning up the trash thing, not a real trade.
Miller Retires, and Zboril is SEPARATELY traded for a 2nd

Please read things before making dumb comments

On the other teams contracts first, the majority are entry-level, GM-housekeeping stuff, whose deadlines are different than the NHL RFAs/UFAs. But yes BOS signed Halak...(more below on BOS's other contract issues).

Web search - I have not personally "vetted it" for it's accuracy. "Krug Would Take Hometown Discount" September 5, 2019 3:44 pm | by Filip Canda | Posted In Eastern Conference, NHL
link @ https://primetimesportstalk.com/2019/09/05/boston-bruins-torey-krug-hometown-discount/

“Would I take less to stay in Boston, it’s something that I’ve talked about with my family and my agent. It’s something I’m interested in. How much less—that’s a question that will be answered at a certain time,” Krug said. “As long as they want me, I think something could be done, realistically.”

BOS CONTRACTS (cont'd)
* COVID and the potential flat to falling Cap actually have a major part in the signing/non-signing of Krug. Moreover, BOS has three impt NHL-RFA pieces to ink in DeBrusk, Grzz and Bjork.
* Krug does not have to be signed until the last week of June 2020. DS has time and is using all of it - that's prudent and smart...

Why wait - because each day in an NHL-COVID-World is loaded with uncertainty and unknowns.....................

Zboril and Miller aren’t trash. You mention “dumb” but you think Zboril would get a 2nd rounder. Its a stupid trade proposal.
