I seriously hope that NHL.com writers are wrong. I get that rask had better numbers but hellebuyck played better. He carried the jets into the playoffs and a lot of nights won them games that they had no business in. Rask benefitted from a solid d-core and played waayyyy less games.
If the vezina is supposed to go to the best goaltender then it should go to hellebuyck who should get some hart consideration too. Rask was good but he wasn’t the best.
NHL writers are just plain stupid, they didn't even have Panarin in the top 3 for Hart when he or Hellebuyck should win LMAO. Hellebuyck only had three points so that means he got like 1 3rd place vote, what a joke.
Agreed, but unfortunately it'll probably happen. Boston having the best record means a lot to these voters. It's why Vasi won it last year despite having the 7th best SV% among starters in the NHL. Like...shouldn't he be at least top 5 in order to win the Vezina?!?!

Yes, they don't really look 2 deep into any of their posts...

It's just sad that the NHL is so far behind every other sport in terms of analytics that the point leader automatically=Hart, the most wins= Vezina, and the most points for a Dman=Norris. They are literally going AGAINST what the trophy is supposed to mean.

Even some of the GM's go by point productions...botteril hasn't signed anyone by advanced numbers that i can tell.

I mean I am not saying they all have to turn into advance stat nerds like me, but at least look at the context. For example Draisaitl has Mcdavid on his team and gets like 1/2 of his points on the power play. McDavid is also considered to be in the top 5 for the hart trophy, so how is it possible to WIN the most valuable player when you arguably aren't even the most valuable on your team.

Ye, and don't tell me that having the best player in the world on one line not affect the level of competition that you play. Draisaitl also isn't dancing around on the ice and doing it all himself like Panarin, Eichel, and Helly are.
I didn't realize that the GM's voted for this award...I think that plays in Hellebuyck's favour but you never know. If he doesn't win that's gonna the biggest joke. Snubbed 2 years now.

This year's voting has been a joke. There was a model showing that Helleybucyk had the hardest workload amongst all NHL goalies & had the best performance whereas Rask had a very easy workload overall. Anyone who watches the games would know that.
Also, Carlson is going to run away with the Norris trophy only because he put up the most points, playing on an offensively stacked team. He was average to below-average defensively. McAvoy, Pietrangelo, Theodore, Josi & even Spurgeon should be ahead of him.

It's to bad that all the writers are like 50 years old+ and to naive to understand analytics because they believe their eyes never lie to them.

Disagree on Panarin. The Rangers were one of the top offensive teams in the league this year. Panarin had WAY more help than Draisaitl did.
