Interesting if nothing else. Trading for superstar franchise players will require overpaying so it's probably "fair" from that point of view.

But I think this makes the team worse. Eichel is only going to play 22 minutes or so a night. I'm not convinced that Eichel plus whomever is that much better than Monahan plus Gaudreau. For that upgrade (and cap increase) your also giving up a first and solid number 2 d man.

Taylor Hall would be one acquisition for the LW side, I think there's a good chance he looks to sign in CGY this offseason.

Its pricey, but it has to be.
I dont think JG signs here again, especially for anything team friendly.
Eichel is franchise, its always going to take a big over payment for something like that and I feel this is fair and something I'd explore myself.
I wasn't the brains behind this, its been discussed on a big CGY hockey forum and lots seem to be okay with it.
