I know a lot of Sharks fans would do this trade, but personally I would not

We could probably get someone better for that pick. If you added like lias or howden we would be more interested.

Nah. Goalie market this time is pretty big with so many UFA options, so their trade value is smaller.

What Sharks fan would do that trade? I'm not even a Sharks fan and I can see they're getting robbed. That pick is in the top 35 picks... Make it the Colorodo 2nd rounder and SJS say yes. Too many free agency options to pay that much for a backup.

Yep. Especially he's not even a starter. More like a split time goalie.

NYR and cap says no thanks. Hank is a goner, most likely retires. Here you raised the cap by 2m, are short a spare and short on bonus money.

A second rounder is still a maybe. Georgiev will be a starter eventually. He's certainly one of the best goalies available. Split time? No kidding, when you're just breaking in to the league, unless you're Igor status. Either way, he's not available...

Georgiev will never be a starter playing behind Igor. And trust me... he's available...

2nd rounder sure, but not a high second.

Maybe the Avs one.

Still think that considering the position where SJ is in, they shouldn't move their picks.

I think they would move the Avs one. If they sign Georgiev and he turns into a starter for them they can ship him out for potentially a low 1st.

I dunno, they're not going to get rid of Jones and they just acquired a goalie prospect in Melnichuk...if I were SJ I wouldn't acquire a long-term goalie now. I'd rather try to use Jones and develop Melnichuk to a new Nabokov. It's obvious that this team is going to suck anyway for several years to come so moving future pieces doesn't seem wise to me at this point.

I'd send Jones to the minors. Let him play a lot and prey he regains his confidence.

If Georgiec turns into a legit starter and they trade him they will win the trade. If he doesn't he'll be a solid backup.

Since NYR doesn't need to protect Shesterkin they probably keep Georgiev and run with that tandem the next 3-5 seasons.

Right but guys like Greiss, Khudobin and Elliott are only short term options where as Georgiev is already better than those AND is a long term option. Our management is crazy if they moved him for a 2nd... we need to get an asset who can play NHL minutes for him

Georgiev is not better than them. Khudobin had the best SV% of the whole league this year and only last year Greiss won the WMJ trophy. And with SJ signing Melnichuk as their long-term haul already they don't really need Georgiev as I've said before

Lol Georgiev has had similar numbers to Khuobin playing behind... have you seen our defense??? as a DAL Stars fan you might know what I'm talking about, since Ruff runs our defensive structure

Ruff sucks. Still don't think that Georgiev's as good as those two.

Sure...

Georgiev leads Khudobin in time on ice

Georgiev leads Khudobin in shots against, on the PK and at even strength, which basically means that DAL's defensive structure is amazing, us, not too much

Khudobin leads Georgiev in «Even-Strength Defense Goals Above Average/Replacement »

Georgiev leads Khudobin in «Shorthanded Defense Goals Above Average/Replacement»

BUT, the biggest case that could be made for Khudobin being better than Georgiev is that K is better in GAR, WAR and SPAR

Disclaimer: I'm only starting to look at fancy stats so I'm not an expert on those nor do I pretend to be one

So basically, two really good goalies( I often create custom NHL teams and those 2 are often the tandem) but I still take AG before Khudobin because I firmly believe in the impact your team has on your play. I don't think Khudobin would have those numbers if he played in NY, we have a sh**ty defensive structure.

But frankly, both are excellent 1A/1B options, Georgiev is more of a 1A (with the starter potential) and Khudobin is more of a 1B goalie.

Pretty much all of these stats can be explained by one fact and that is until Shesterkin's rise NYR had no actual 1G. Hank and Georgiev splitted the time in goal. DAL had Bishop as their clear cut 1G.

Now I don't know what those WARs and GARs even mean so there's nothing for me to say about them.

That's right he'll be Igors backup, because Hank and his cap are definitely goners. He'll continue his strong play for 1-2 years, than potentially shipped off somewhere to be a starter. Sure I'll trust you... he was available for a crazy high price, but of course goalies don't have value so we get to keep our highly skilled, perfect fit backup. Thank god!
Ps disregard some NYR fans trading of Georgiev, it makes zero sense.
