You know Kerfoot is always available for the low low price of 2 3rd's.

Holland has said he wants to construct an elite team for the very long term future with the draft which means keeping as much as much as possible. Soderberg would be my choice if he was available on July 1st

Soderberg won't age well. If it's more then a 1-2 yr contract which is unlikely he will under perform.

Why do you say that? We said that Spezza wasn't aging well yet all he needed was to get away from DAL and he was back to being a 15 goal potential

It's pulled from a separate AGM where Minnesota also trades Brodin. I think the idea primarily revolves around getting rid of Dubnyk. More seeing how it looks from Edmonton's side.

With the restrictions on salary cap and Soderberg likely being able to command upwards of $4M on the open market, I don't think Edmonton is going to find their #3C this offseason unless they acquire a guy like Tierney. Sens fans can't be bargained with apparently, because they believe most of their roster is worth north of a 1st Round Pick.

I think in this case you bet on Rask maintaining 0.3ppg production and buy him out next offseason when you're likely to have more options. I think improvements to the #3LW and #3RW positions - as well as the #2PP unit - can cover up for Rask's short-term deficiencies.

I'm not keen on paying to keep the Leafs out of cap trouble, and I'd prefer a better center regardless.

Kerfoot is consistently 40 pts and has a fair cap hit. He's certainly better then Rask.

Kerfoot was also terrible as the Leafs' #3C this year and played better as Tavares' LW. Honestly, you're not gonna learn a damn thing if you keep focusing on strictly points.

I don;t think minnesota does that second deal considering they got zuccerelo
Lapierre has a high rate of being a bust

Based on what? I understand most prospects in the first round tend to be high-risk, high-reward, but what are you basing Lapierre's odds on?

his injury history

It's a history of misdiagnosed concussions. He has a spinal injury. If you want to look at a similar case with a highly touted prospect, Gabe Vilardi has excelled and is expected to flourish since getting his back sorted out.

The caveat there is that Edmonton and its management has to be willing to give Lapierre both the time and resources he needs in order to get to full health and strength and ensure that his development continues as necessary. Had his back not held him back, many believe he'd have been a top-5 or top-10 pick in this draft.
