I do not like trading back to back 1sts for non star players when we suck

I also don't like spending another high pick on LHD when we have spent a 2018 1st overall, 2018 32nd overall and 2019 31st overall on LHD.

i dont like finishing in the basement of the standing for 9 years straight so I traded picks for actual good, established NHL players to improve the team now before our best player requests a trade.

I would humbly submit that you could trade those picks for better players if you are hell bent on trading both.

Trading your 2020 1st for Domi isn't the best idea.

Would really help if some of the Sabres recent 2nd round picks started to pan out.

They are established, but not players (especially domi) that are worth giving such high picks for.

I think you're right, can't keep waiting on the next draft pick to save the day, think you should sign Domi to a longer deal though, 7 or 8 years.

Yes indeed.

2007: Drew Schiestel- made an AHL all star game, his knee died, 0 NHL games
2008: Luke Adam 90 NHL games
2009: no 2nd
2010: no 2nd
2011: no 2nd
2012: Jake McCabe. Hes fine. An NHL player
2013: JT Compher, traded before playing a game. Connor Hurley: last seen in ECHL last year after quitting college, zero NHL games. Justin Bailey 65 NHL games, good AHL player
2014: Brendan Lemieux, refused to sign, 4th liner, about to be suspended after his first podcast with Anthony Deangelo airs, Eric Cornel, good AHL player, 0 NHL games, Vaclav Karabacek horrible AHL player, in europe i think zero NHL games
2015: brendan Guhle, still not an NHL regular, traded
2016: asplund: still not an NHL regular, probably will be on 4th line next year

Domi has 116 points in his last 153 games thats pretty solid and he is still just hitting the prime of his career at 25 years old.

Cole Perfetti or whoever the hell we pick outside the top 5 might never even be good and even if he ends up as a regular in the NHL, it will be at least 2-3 years until hes an impact player at the NHL level. Max Domi already is that and you dont have to wait 2-3 years which is pretty important because if we're not good by then our best player will have already requested a trade out if town...

Yeah that's not exactly hitting it out of the park.. Lol
Really though when you look at the most recent ones from say 2010 on there's at least some NHL players there but they were traded so not helping the Sabres at the moment.

What'd Lemieux say in this podcast?
I was fine with the Jets trading him, didn't think it should be for a rental though.

Domi has had one great season, outside of that he is a 40 to 50 point guy. You dont trade away the 7th overall pick for a player with his limited, very limited, success. Its like trading the 7th overall for Marcus Johansson. Just because we havent drafted well, doesnt mean would should make dumb trades.

okay so you'd rather have something like maybe...

-Cole Perfetti
-Erik Haula (2C UFA signing with Domi's $)

than

-Jack Eichel (He'll leave if we don't get good NHL players on the team)
-Max Domi

nice

You can get rid of ristolainen while also not trading a first round pick for another defensemen. We have 5 RHD right now.

what a headscratcher dude.... Mantha is like the 5th or 6th best forward of the 10 i listed there

hes also a RFA so under team control versus a guy like Hertl who will just walk in UFA in 2 years anyways

because if we tell Eichel were not going to give up future assets to improve the team right now and instead inform him were going to try and wait another 3 years to be good by hoping Dylan Cozens, Cole Perfetti and Ryan Johnson somehow save the franchise i dont think he'd show up to training camp for next season dude

ill take a young 50 point 2nd line center over a prospect who may never score 50 points in his career.

also, whos to say he cant have another great season?

he had 72 points 1 season ago its not like hes 31 years old hes 25 dude

The simply fact that he regressed after one good season, is evident that his 72 point season was an outlier. If you are trading the 7th overall pick, you should be getting someone better than a 40 to 50 point player. Again, how did Johansson look on the 2nd line? We need someone better than that on line 2. Make these trades and guess what....we are drafting in the top ten again next year.

And look at that, you gave away that pick too. A blue print for more suffering.
