Carolina struggle for C depth already. Marner is a hell of a player, but it's not worth trading both middle six 6's and a top pairing RD for him.

I changed trade but I probably made it worse IMO.

Same problem. Necas as a centre, with Trocheck who's our 2C is just not woth it. It would have been better as something like Staal, Niederreiter, Suzuki/Rees, Bean and Pesce for Marner and Kerfoot.

Svechnikov? This sways the value too much. Svechnikov is a PPG player who is already great defensively and he's 19. This is an easy no from Carolina. I just don't see a way to get Toronto an NHL ready package that Carolina can offer without damaging the team to the point where this isn't worth it.

Yeah, I don’t think Carolina is a trading partner for Toronto. I would still be interested what Cane fans would think would be an acceptable trade for Pesce with Toronto.

Lol of course you think that. You must know how heavily you bias towards the Canes. Matthews for Aho and Pesce and you say it's not fair.

I'm sorry, how many 19-year-olds do you know that were on pace for 35 goals and to be a point per game player? Get outta here

For the Canes to give up Svechnikov and Pesce would take a heck of a lot more than Marner and junk. If you think the cap is going up, you’re dreaming.

He’s an awesome player, and I agree with you that this trade is bad for Carolina, but you don’t have to BS about the numbers. He was not on pace to be a point per game player.

61 points in 68 games with a 13 game point streak when the season was stopped? I'd say he was...

Um. Do you know what point per game means? It means, well, point. Per. Game.

You understand how hot streaks work right? It means... well get. hot. He would have been close enough to call him PPG

Jesus Christ. When you say someone was on pace to be a point per game player, and they had 61 points in 68 games, you’re just wrong. But let’s just go into the numbers, because it’s a pandemic and I’m bored.

To be a point per game player, he would have had to put up 21 points in 14 remaining games. 1.5 points per game. He had .89 points per game over the course of the season. You said he was on a 13 game point streak at the time the season stopped. That just wasn’t even remotely true. In his last 8 games he was held pointless in four of them. How you got to a 13 game point streak is just beyond me. He has never done that in his career. But let’s just take a look at those last 13 games that you were talking about for no apparent reason.

He had 10 points in that 13 game stretch. .769 points per game. And you thought he would finish with 1.5? K.

Like I said, your point is very valid that this trade is bad for Carolina, you don’t need to just fabricate statistics to make your point.

Agree with both of you, Pesce and Svech are better alone than the package coming back. I'd Compare Svech to Marner as a 1for 1. I honestly believe that Svechnikov will be the best LW in the game next year. I mean he is pretty much Carolinas best offensive player(IMO he is) and he hasn't had great top end talent linemates this year.

While I'm on the Carolina topic just 2 throw this in there...Carolina is going to win the cup or be in the conference final...they IMO are probably one of the best teams, Mrazek just has to be the goalie he has shown he can be throughout the year. Another Carolina topic I think that Necas will be a PPG player soon. Also Caniac I rewatched the Jets Carolina game, Carolina was amazing..

And Nylander was on a 80+ point pace and 40+ goal pace once Keefe took over. Does that mean that Nylander is also a point a game player?

Nope, because that's a much smaller sample size. OVer 82 games Svech would have been within the 80-85 point range. That's a ppg buddy
