If CBJ Takes Brendan Smith/Marc Staal/ or Henrik Lundqvist back sure or even retaining like $1M on Wennberg.

How about we don’t take a cap dump and we don’t make the trade that should work for all parties. Keep Strome since he’s so good for you.

There’s so many No’s on this trade list it might make Columbus worse.

i know strome could easily fall off a cliff... but this gets rid of the wennberg contract at the same time. At least even a meh strome exceeds both these players.

Strome... not a chance. He’s massively inflated due to Panarin. Honestly not really any better then Wennberg would be wing Panarin, and to answer the question no, Wennberg never really played with Panarin. The line was Panarin, PLD and Atkinson.

And now we replace Wennberg with a slightly more expensive version and gave away Anderson in the process....

So obviously you guys need a 3C who can carry a line, so how does Kerfoot sound? Is there a way to work him into a Savard deal? Like what about Kerfoot+3rd for Savard? (We'd get the 3rd via a separate trade)

Also how much do you expect Savard to resign for?

what about just a wennberg for strome swap, assuming strome signs an identical contract to wennberg's remaining (3x4.9). not saying the value is there, but questioning if you would consider a strome trade at all.

Well assuming Wennberg is bought out to make room for Grigoranko and Foudy. I’d say no...

u think Grig is good enough to step in as a 2C, even on the temporary? I don't think Foudy will jump straight into 2C

I think that a mix of Foudy, Grigoranko, Jenner and Texier could be a 2nd line center.

Tbh I’d look at Eric Staal if the price was right as a rental and 1 year stop gap till Foudy is ready.

Kerfoot doesn't carry a line at all. He's the definition of a complimentary player... Which is what Avs fans were telling TML fans last offseason and which Leafs fans have slowly (and painfully) been learning this season.

Strome is fool's gold. Whilst he does have some decent playmaking ability he's a career sub-0.5ppg player up to now who's had one inflated year while riding shotgun with Panarin. There are many tell-tale signs of this being a one-off career year for him, including:

- His career average is 0.52ppg. This season he's at 0.84 ppg.
- His last 6 seasons his points totals were 28, 30, 34, 35, 35, and 59....... Not hard to spot the outlier.
- This season he is being spoon-fed minutes with sheltered offensive minutes with 54.6 oZS% and 19:35 ATOI, by far the highest in his career.
- Shooting % in 2 years with Rangers is 15.4%, which is 5.1% higher than his career average.
- 104.4 PDO this season, which is 9th highest in the league among forwards with at least 50 games.
- He has raked in PP points playing with Panarin, Zibanejad, and Deangelo, with 14 PP assists. Before this season he had only 26 PP assists in 7 seasons combined. Needless to say it's likely that he sees a big drop in assists if acquired by a team where he wouldn't get PP1 time.

All of those combined are signs of a player with heavily inflated stats, and it's unlikely that he'd be anything more than a 35-40 point player without PP1 time and tons of offensive ice time.

He's basically an offensive 3C that depends a lot on linemates for production. Based on the stats above I doubt GM's are going to be lining up to acquire him to be the sucker that gives him a raise, particularly as there's every chance that he reverts back to his Edmonton production if he doesn't get a lot of heavily sheltered offensive minutes.
