Vegas has, shall we say, a very GOOD scouting department. IMO on par with Carolina's and Tampa's. They mainly use them as trade chips, but they almost always perform well above their original draft slot before they get dealt.

I still can't get over Anaheim picking LD Jackson LaCombe and then two picks later, Las Vegas trading up to take RD Kaedan Korczak.

Korczak was a somewhat controversial pick at the time since he was mainly acquired for his physical tools (though he was underrated IMO in terms of offensive skill), but so far he looks fantastic in juniors. I would not be terribly surprised if he either makes it as a 2nd pairing guy or is the blue-chipper centerpiece sent off for their next big superstar acquisition (Eichel, anyone?).

I think he's going to turn into a right-handed Donovan McNabb for them.

We'll see. McPhee and McCrimmon are operating this club in a win-now fashion RN. Some young players have sneaked into their lineup this year during injuries, like Roy/Hague/Whitecloud, and Glass is likely a future 2C in this league. It's a bit difficult to predict which of their prospects become lineup fixtures and which one becomes deadline bait for the next big mid-season add. You're also seeing Carolina beginning to take this develop-and-trade approach. I really loved Nic Roy and Janne Kuokkanen's games, for example, but if Trocheck and Vatanen help us get all the way to the Cup Finals on the back of one of the deepest defense corps ever assembled in the cap era, it's all worth it.

This kid plays for my hometown Windsor Spitfires. This past season he stepped into the role of the number one Dman on the team and excelled both offensively and defensively, has improved leaps and bounds since he’s been drafted and it couldn’t happen to a better kid, awesome intangibles which I am particularly huge on, couldn’t be prouder to see him get signed and could keep rising up the VGK prospect ranks. He’ll take some time in the AHL but with this kids drive and improvement already I wouldn’t be shocked to see him in the NHL one day

The Golden Knights scouting has impressed me a lot so far considering their only 3 years old as a franchise.

Ehh you were just a couple off. It’s a small mishap. Who knows, maybe Donovan is a closet wannabe nhl dman.

The franchise yes, their scouting staff has been scouting for other NHL teams for many, many years.
